Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 12, 2005 Labeled at only 3.5% ABV. A red beer with a huge pink head. The aroma is powerfully black currant - and nothing else - just like black currant juice - nice, but not really what I want in my beer. The flavor is very sweet with a good acidity and lots of black currant, leading to a dry woody note. I like the combination of the sweet black currant juice and the acidity. omhper (10454), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 23, 2008 Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Deep purple, pink head. Tart evident black curant aroma. Sweet black currant flavour with a fair amount of drying vinegart acidity. Tart enough to be refreshing, but with a very straight forward and overpowering black currant flavour, taking away the complexity of the lambic base. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 22, 2005 (Bottle 25 cl) Dark red, close to black actually, with a reddish, dense and rather creamy head. Rather acidic both from the lambic and the black currant although lots of sugar is added. But very fresh indeed. 161199 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2000 Very sweet. Heavy, sticky body. They need to ease up on both the sugar and the blackcurrant essence. yespr (6361), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 21, 2007 25 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown/purple with a lacing off-white head. Very sweet black currants, a bit like cheap sugarish candy. Fills the room immediately when poured. Sweet sugarish berry flavour which goes into a very sharp acidity/citric finish. Black currants flavour keeps lingering far into the finish. Surprisingly clean and nice, but it only works in small quantities.
