Commercial Description:
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

375 ml bottle- 1997 vintage I think. Pours a bright purple with violet ruby highlights and a thin diminishing fizzy head. Aroma is still very bright and fruity- cassis with a sharp green tomato hint, slight vegetal but extremely sweet fruity and blackberry with the black currant. Flavor is a bit cardboard and stale but still lots of syrupy sweetness, along with lots of still fresh berry cut by a slight stale acidity - still not something Im crazy about from the sweetness, but I was surprised it held up so well after 12 years.

Rich red color with a tinted cream head on top, a beautiful look. The aroma is mostly currants, but has a bit of cereal grain to it, and some green olive smeel to it in the background. Flavor is very tart. The first taste made my lips pucker and a tingle on my tongue. Flavos is nothing too sepcial in my opinion, its very sweet has the feel of berries in it.

Dark Grape Juice Coloring. Black Currant Aroma... Sweet... Slightly Dry Ending. I prefer the Kriek or the Framboise for Flavor....but This One is Balanced..Smooth...Simple in Flavor. Not a Bad Offering.

Purple color, with a pink head. Aromas of currents and mint. Flavor is similar to the aroma. It starts out sweet, but get a little sour as it goes. Interesting, but not really my thing.

Deep purple in colour with an odd pink head. This beer is really a one note wonder: loads of cassis aroma and flavor, but not much else going on. There’s not much lactic sourness, yeast, orwheat malt character at all. It starts out light on the palate, and gets a little heavy and cloying as time goes on. All of that being said, I like cassis flavor quite a bit, so this wasn’t all that bad for me.

another chickie lambic, pinkish purple with reddish head; the aroma is fruity with hint of currant. so is the flavor.

Bright purple-red color--pinkish purplish, frothy, bubbly head. Sweet-and-sour cherry-like aroma with some musty, woody elements. Cherries and sour grapes dominate the flavor profile. Pretty overwhelmingly sweet and somewhat one-dimensional. Not bad, but not something that’s worth going back to again and again. I felt like I was drinking a fizzy sour grape juice, which is pretty good, but not an ideal trait in the world of Lambics.

A currant soda-pop with slight hints of sourness in the background. Thoroughly drinkable, but ultimately unremarkable. Acidic and fruity (currant, how surprising!) notes on the aroma. Ruby, purplish color, mostly clear. A decent flavor, but a little thin and ultimately bitter. Medium-thin bodied and spritzy.
