Remark: unbalanced sweetness.

(Lindemans Cassis Lambic) Bottle 250 ml at home, poured into a small tulip. ABV 3.5% Very deep red, almost purple in colur, with also a light purple head on top, small but thick, with very good retention, leaving heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma of light wheat and sour grapes, overpowered by the black currant. Taste is quite sour, helped a bit by the black currants, some wheat too. Very good. Full body, quite tart on the palate, creamy and smooth on the palate. Quite good, pleasantly surprised with this one.

Appearance: deep reddish purple, lighter purple head. Aroma: deep aroma of dark fruits in heavy syrup, lightly woody, with a hint of funk. Taste: stone fruit, with black currant dominating, over balsamic vinegar, light leathery funk, slight floral and peppery character. Finish: lingering syrupy sweetness, slightly offset with a light tart funk. Notes: Another decent fruit lambic from Lindemans. Not my favorite (Kriek FTW), but still good.

15/VIII/14 - on tap @ Internationaal Streekbierenfestival (Zwevegem) - BB: n/a (2014-906) Thanks to Johan and Fokke for sharing today’s beers!

Clear ruby red beer, creamy pink head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, very fruity, black currants, syrupy, sugary, forest fruit candy. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, bit sugary, sour notes, lemony, sour berries, bit syrupy sweet. Aftertaste: some bitter tannins, maybe due to the skins of the currants? Sourish, red berries, syrupy sweetness, lemony, cherry flavoured chewing gum.

Variation on sweet kriek practically invented by Lindemans. A deep reddish purple beer with thin lilac head and aroma and taste dominated by sugar and blackcurrant, crčme de cassis-like but without the alcohol, ascorbic acidity and spicy sweet finish. Lambic is only there for structural reasons but hardly noticeable. I can imagine this type of beers has its amateurs, but I am not one of them, though I respect the fact that Lindemans chose this way in order to survive - otherwise one of the best unblended lambics might have gone lost.

Bardzo zaskakujące piwo... które, gdyby nie było podpisane, wzięłabym za gazowany sok porzeczkowy. Ładna, dość mroczna etykieta i zaskakujące połączenie korka z kapslem.. samo piwo natomiast o nieco dziwnym zapachu, nie do końca porzeczkowym, natomiast w smaku czuć lekką kwaskowatość i cierpkość owoców z ledwie wyczuwalnymi nutami piwa :D

Surprising. peppery smell and flavor to go with the currents. Nice fruity sweetness but not cloying. Good lambic.

Bright purple - could be a kids’ fizzy drink bursting with chemicals were it not for the frothy pink head. Very fruity aroma, red fruit flavours, with blackcurrant unsurprisingly at the head, against a sour background. Fizzy and light bodied. So, it comes in somewhere between Kir Royale and Vimto! I wouldn’t drink it all the time, but I think it’s a good thing that beer has these crazy relatives on the outer edges of its family.
