Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

375ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish-purple, with a large crimson-tinged head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves decent lacing. The aroma is mainly sweet blackcurrant, with some sour notes lurking in the background. To be honest, it smells mainly of Ribena. The taste is, thankfully, much more pleasant. It is quite strongly sour to begin, with some faint woody notes leading into sweetly fruity blackcurrant set against a nicely sour background. The fruitiness of the blackcurrant comes through more strongly in the finish, and there is a pleasantly sour aftertaste. I find fruit lambics can be a bit hit and miss; it really depends on the fruit. Blackcurrant seems to work pretty well with the sourness of the beer itself, although it does rather dominate the aroma. All in all, however, this is a very pleasant beer.

Sour, fruity (never had a black currant, so I don’t know what they taste like), with some heavy funk as well.

Bottle. Aroma is sugary black currants and grape juice. Tastes the same. Strong sweetness. Very little sourness and just a hint of tart in the finish. Moderately acidic. Not great. Way too sweet.

37.5 cl bottle, Best before 21 Jan 2016. Dark burgundy colour with a creamy, dull, cherry tinge head which reduced to a ring but left tremendous lacing. Aroma of black currants, white wine and some mustiness. Low / medium tartness and low/medium sweetness. Medium body, sticky texture, spritzy and a lingering, yet pleasant, tart finish. Very nice. 8.

Beautiful dark pour, and fruity aromatic head, drinks like a good lambic bubbly, slightly sour and tart, currants are a very nice addition.

gut Nicht ganz so süß wie das Kriek von Lindemans, obwohl auch das Cassis Opfer von Süßungsmittel wurde. Geschmacklich dominieren hier leicht saure Johannisbeernoten. -leichte Eiche u. Vanillenoten -gut carbonisiert -süße johannisbeernoten im abgang
