3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
375ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish-purple, with a large crimson-tinged head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves decent lacing. The aroma is mainly sweet blackcurrant, with some sour notes lurking in the background. To be honest, it smells mainly of Ribena. The taste is, thankfully, much more pleasant. It is quite strongly sour to begin, with some faint woody notes leading into sweetly fruity blackcurrant set against a nicely sour background. The fruitiness of the blackcurrant comes through more strongly in the finish, and there is a pleasantly sour aftertaste. I find fruit lambics can be a bit hit and miss; it really depends on the fruit. Blackcurrant seems to work pretty well with the sourness of the beer itself, although it does rather dominate the aroma. All in all, however, this is a very pleasant beer.

Sauer, Sauer, Sauer!

I was a bit poorly when drinking this (I managed to get a cold in July) but anyway - bottle; pours ruby red with a frothy pink head, good retention and thin lacing. Aroma of blackcurrant and some raspberry. Taste is sweet blackcurrant flavour followed by sourness. Light body, light carbonation and a little syruppy. Somewhat like Ribena, pretty nice.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma is of blackcurrant, sweet and a little sour. The colour of blackcurrant juice, the head huge and stable. Very sour indeed, a lemony kind of sourness, and not much of anything else. Medium body, a squeezing kind of feeling on the tongue, very little carbonation remains in the glass, tart and sour finish. At least not very artficial and not sickeningly sweet, so that’s good, I suppose.

Bottle from Charter Mall supermarket, Chongqing Lu, Changchun, China. Pours purple with a pink head. Aroma of blackcurrant, sharp edge to the taste - not sweet. Lovely on a hot summer’s day.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
37.5 cl bottle at home. Purple with a lighter purple head. Blackcurrant aromas and flavours are quite restrained compared to the raspberries in this breweries framboise. Fruity, tangy and refreshing.
