A fine mixed of sweet and sour raspberry. This has been one of my favorites since my first taste.

O.k. I can give respect to the style, but I don’t have to actually enjoy it. I kept thinking of Fred Sanford drinking ’Champipple’. However, this was more palatable to me than their gueze. too sweet too sour. possibly an after dinner drink.

Well here we go: Sean’s introdcution to the style, garnered on tap at Ashley’s, the premier beer bar in Michigan in my experience. Sorry to say but at this novice stage I think you guys are all nuts. This was like a dairy queeny rasberry froth - beautifully berry, perhaps, but hardly beer. Actually, as I think more on it, it doesn’t even do the rasberries proud as I expect a good tart to my berry and this thing is sweet as hell. I can appreciate that it isn’t quite as bubblegum bad as too many fruit beers, but I hardly enjoyed the experience. Can you really tell that there is malt in this? Maybe having it on tap was the bad idea.

Pours with a bright red color, and has lively amounts of carbonation. In the nose, there is slightly sour, raspberry syrup smell. In taste, this one is a very sweet: the initial mouth attack is sweet and sour, as there is a considerable amount of fruit acidity in this ale.

Nice fluffy head and deep crimson color. The raspberry flavor is very sweet, but not overwhellming. A nice change from beer.

I had heard this was the best of the lambics, at least from Lindemans. The aroma is fresh and not artificial, the color is wonderful in the glass, either poured from the bottle or on draught. The taste is just as good as the smell and color, once I got past the initial sourness. It is definitely more sour than I expected, even more than the other lambics I’ve tried. After a few minutes, it became easier to drink, and I really liked it. It isn’t beer in any shape, form, or fashion, just a more sour, thickier-bodied wine cooler, or as someone said earlier, a raspberry champagne. Like I said, I think it’s very good, but only in small quantities.

Okay, here’s the thing. I assume that people who want to try different beers check out this site to see what others think about certain beers. Unsupecting people may think that lambics are like beers and may see all these great reviews and want to try one. Good for them, and I encourage everyone to experiment with this EVIL liquid, but I feel I must warn them. This is not beer. Lambics are an aquired taste and I suppose that only people who ’appreciate’ lambics are qualified to discuss them. BE WARNED. This drink makes my face hurt when I try to force one down. The airborne pathogens that ferment this liquid create an admittedly complex flavor, but said flavor is unpleasant. The raspberry flavor is like the fake stuff the drug companies use to make medicine taste better. The flavor is bitter, sour, tart, astringent, and just plain bad. As I said, please try one for yourself, but at the price they charge for this stuff, make your friend who likes it buy it for you so that when you discover that it is undrinkable they will finish it for you. I would have rated it lower but it is possible that there is something worse yet to come.
