smith4498 (822), Miami, Florida, USA Mar 25, 2008 Pours dark pinkish purple with light pink head. Aroma is all raspberries. Tastes like a wine cooler or raspberry soda, good if thats what you are looking for. Very sweet and tart. Is this a beer? This is my first lambic and I hope that others are not like this. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 24, 2008 Pours a slightly cloudy ruby-red with a pink head, aroma is pungent jolly-rancher, berry, very sweet. Tastes syrupy and tart, articifial raspberry, milky with a touch of yeast. Body is thick and, again, syrupy with good carbonation. Out of context, this is a tasty beverage but again, not what I’d call beer without knowing. BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Mar 22, 2008 From bottle : Pours clear dark red, with a finger and a half of fizzy pink head. Smell is very strong, sweet, candy like, with raspberrys and cranberrys. Taste is very sweet as well with raspberry and cranberries again, kinda like a jolly rancher. Also kinda sour toward the end. Medium body with a sticky feel. Aftertaste is much the same as the taste. It is pretty good to be honest, but i can only have one, then it is just a little too sweet. daknole (2803), Plantation, Florida, USA Mar 18, 2008 The cream of the crop as far as raspberry lambics. sweet, sour, perfect balance and carbonation. It is the standard by which all others should be judged. bpowers (24), USA Mar 17, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep raspberry (almost red wine) color with a small effervescent pink head. Bubbles everywhere!, like pouring a soda. Aroma is almost entirely of sweet raspberry syrup. When it first hits the mouth, taste is sour but quickly progresses to a very sweet raspberry syrup taste. Finishes with predominately that same raspberry taste with a little bit of the the tartness coming back. I would have liked to see alot more of the tart/sour taste to balance thevery sweet syrupy raspberry taste. Finish was suprisingly dry - but good. Beer was suprisingly light bodied and actually much more thin than the syrupy rasbperry taste would lead you to believe. Heaviy carbonated, almost bordering on too much. All all pretty good, and pretty interesting, but alot more of the tart flavor would give it alot more depth and make it much more refreshing/less oppresively sweet. MinetoKuroda (11), Nihombashi Chuo-ku, Japan Mar 15, 2008 Updated: Mar 16, 2008On tap. Smells powerful and surprised at the thickness of raspberry and sweet-sour atmosphere. Very juice like tasty but I worried about if I could finish drinking up this beverage because I might tired of the taste on the way. But it was ok for the last sip. Always comfortable with the effect of hidden bitterness.
If it was not low alcohol beer , too much for me, so was quite nice beer. Exelent.
Now I know through my mouth that there are a lot of beer styles in the world. illidurit (851), Santa Cruz, California, USA Mar 10, 2008 Poured into a wine glass. Deep purple/red color with a fizzy light-pink head. Despite the fizziness there’s appreciable lacing.
Obviously the main aroma here is raspberry, but it has an unnatural saccharine quality to it.
Flavor has some tartness but not really enough. The sweetener character comes through here in the form of a syrupy and borderline cloying candied raspberry note.
Finish is thankfully dryish, however the sugariness is too much.
Effervescence is a little too strong, and the sweetness is a little too syrupy to qualify for high drinkability. downender (2535), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Mar 10, 2008 375ml bottle from ASDA. Very deep pink colour with a pink flecked, tight white head. Pronounced raspberry fruit aroma with some yeast and almonds. Flavour began with a tart edge before an overwhelming raspberry syrup taste took over. Marred by a way too sweet finish.
