lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 1, 2007 Updated: Aug 9, 2007Pours a dark reddish purplish color, with basically no head. Smell is of tart raspberries. Tastes strongly like raspberries too. Has the taste of a wine spritzer or something similar to that. Not oversweet, but much sweeter than a traditional beer. Prounounced raspberry taste and aftertaste along with a sourness. Highly carbonated. Not cloying, and very drinkable for what it is. Interesting, but not very beer-like. Tried also mixing it with Young’s double chocolate stout to make a "raspberry truffle" but it didn’t turn out as good as I had hoped. Glazed9884 (207), USA Jun 30, 2007 xxx I loved this beer the first time I had it. that was before I started really drinking different beers. Now I find it overly-carbonated and not the best raspberry flavor, and it has no alcohol. houseostyle (5), USA does not count Jun 27, 2007 This is my all-time favorite beer. To me its so sweet as if I were drinking wine but I can taste the key ingredients that make beer unique. Try adding this to Hoegarden for an extra tasty treat. pinkandgeek (26), USA Jun 27, 2007 Although is has a near water alcohol percentage, it is delicious. A crisp and tart flavor flows across your mouth freely. Wonderfully paired with a piece of chocolate cake drizzled with ganache or some chocolate mousse. This is more of a dessert beer, although I am sure there are some other dishes it would complement. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Jun 23, 2007 Very very raspberry. I love raspberries, but was this a beer? I suppose nice for a dessert, I’m not to experienced in this style. It was quite nice. 2.5%? Jesus, well water is 2.5%! johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Jun 20, 2007 On tap. Poured dark purple with a pink/red head. Aroma of raspberries. Taste was much of the same. Very sweet and filling. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Jun 17, 2007 on at at Firewaters AC. Deep red-almost purple in colr with a big pink heade. Aroma is a ton of rasberries, and that is about it. maybe a touch of funk way in the back. The taste I found to be way too sweet and sugary, although the rasberry does taste very fresh. Compared to other framboises, I couldn’t detect much tartness at all. Finishes fruity, sweet and smooth. a touch of tartness lingers after the finish but not enough for me personally. This almost tasted like a beer cocktail to me, rather than a normal beer. Not too crazy about this one. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jun 16, 2007 Sampled on tap @ Waldo’s Pizza in KC, MO. How many pizza joints have a lambic on tap? Served in a flute. This is an attractive beer: deep red with a thin pinkish head. The aroma is strong raspberries with a hint of cream. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, tart and dry. The flavor follows the nose and is big, effervescent raspberries. Quite tasty. This is like a liquid raspberry sorbet. Fresh, flavorful and clean with a tart, palate-cleaning astringency at the end. After jotting down my notes, all the adults at the table wanted a taste. Unanimously, even among the non-beer drinkers and the one Miller Lite drinker (God help her), this beer was a hit. I think I’ll have to grab a bottle or two for the next family gathering.
