The starting lambic for most peoples foray into this very interesting type of beer. a little too tart for my tastes, and it wouldn’t ruin this beer to have a little higher abv than 2.5. A good starter into the lambic arena though.

25cl. bottle at Robinson Crusoe, Sant Antoni de Calonge. It pours a cloudy purple-red liquid with almost inexistent bubbly pink-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing. The aroma is syrupy, with sour raspberries, mulberries and a distant wheat. It tastes likewise, but intenser, with more subtleties. It has a very nice balance of sweetness and sourness (50-50), which makes this brew more attractive than other lambics. It is also subtly bitter. In the mouth it feels mild but lively carbonated, pleasant, with a medium body; nice. It ends dry, with an sweet fruity aftertaste and a good touch of sourness. Pleasant fruit lambic with a classic but nice presentation. Very drinkable; a good choice.

Bottle. Pours of dark red with small pink head. Aroma of raspberry. Well balanced sweet raspberry start, medium body and tart finish. Sweetness throughout taste. I read in Men’s Magazine that this is a very healthy beer to drink (as far as beers goes).

Draft. I admit I am not a fan of this style. Pours dark pink/red. Sick sweet fruit scent. Sweet citrus/berry taste.

Let’s face it, it’s a bit stanky but good. Pours red, like the kind I saw when we dug up the good old septic tank one night because our shower drainage was backing up into the house. Yup. Horse blanket, hay, dust, carpet lice....dorm parties...(with girls)...these are all the things that I conjure up in my head when I smell this stuff. All in all though not bad. You can smell the berries sure...but then there’s the horse blanket. ANd once you get by the horse blanket and off-bitterness of the sour lambic then you can finally see the true character of this drink.
