UPDATED: MAR 23, 2008 My first lambic, couldn’t wait to get it home to try it, for some reason my mouth was watering. Nifty 12 oz bottle with a red tinfoil top hat. Cost was $8 at the beer store in Moon Twp. Bottle has letters embossed in it. Popped the lid with my bottle opener and there is a cork in there too, blast!. Is this a wine? With wine bottle opener it pops and has a little fruit berry aroma. Closer sniff yields a powerful pleasing fruit freshness. Pours thickly reddish cloudy purple creamy in my steeler stein, the best looking beer I’ve seen. Head is small, gorgeous and creamy looking, I want to touch it. The fizzy sound is great too! The initial flavor is unbelievable great. This can’t be a beer, it is better than champagnes and american raspberry ciders I’ve tasted, same level. The palate is pleasing with its perfect carbonation and creamyness on the back of the tongue without prickly bite. Finish is really good too! No bitterness and at the same time not overly sweet. I could drink these all day and because of the 2.5% alcohol , I would if it didn’t cost so much. I just don’t know how a beer rater could like this and IPA/bitter stouts at the same time. This lambic is the antonym of IPA.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2007 Bottle... thanks to my brother for this most amazing treat. I never had a lambic before this (the closest was cherry wheat Sam Adams), so this was a totally different drinking experience. Pours a purple head with a purple appearance. It has the most wonderful aroma -- unlike anything I’ve ever smelled in a beer. One of the best beer drinking experiences that I’ve had. What I love about it is that after the initial raspberry sweetness hits you, it finishes off with a bitterness that I love in a good beer.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2008 Pours a beautiful slightly cloudy dark red with pink bilowing head. As soon as the cork is removed, room fills up with the sweet and woody aroma of freshly picked rasberries, still attached to their leaves and vines. This is a very sweet interpretation of the style, with the thick syrupy, sweet taste of freshly made rasberry puree and melted rasberry sherbert. Although much criticized for its heavy use of syrup after fermentation, this beer remains a world classic. Excellent as a party greeter or desert beer. Try with rasberry cheesecake or any cream cheese with fruit desert.

Crisp, tart, fruity without being cloyingly sweet.... this beer is one of my favorites. So refreshing, bright and effervescent. And you can’t beat the awesome Art Nouveau bottle.

Absolutely my favorite beer of all time. It’s got a wonderful red color, not much head, but fizzes like champagne. Nice raspberry flavor with a little bitterness. At $8+ a bottle, you won’t want to waste it, so plan to share it with a friend. Serve cold. It’s wonderful.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2011 Now here’s a winner from Lindemans! The aroma of the Framboise is a very strong raspberry flavor, but there’s a hint of dry hops as well. As I pour the beer, it’s has a strong, good head. The taste is amazing; it’s a nice blend of sweet and sour. One of the best beers I’ve ever had (in fact,it’s the highest rated beer I’ve tried yet!). While I know that fruit beers aren’t liked by all beer drinkers, if you like the flavor of raspberries at all, you really should give this beer a try!

bottle. If you like raspberries you cant go wrong with this. The fruit flavor is very strong, and natural tasting. No weird after taste or overly sweet flavors to get in the way of this wine like beer. Excellent with chocolate!

I drank this early on in my ratings, long before I really appreciated what made a good lambic. I’d probably rate this closer to a 3.5 today. I need to re rate it.
Pours red with a pinkish hue to it. Nose and taste is raspberry, other berries and sweet sugars. Rated 9/28/2000

My favorite "beer." Fruity and easy on the palate. I like it on tap from Vol de Nuit in the Village.
