PhysZac (69), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Mar 12, 2006 Tap at Yogi’s in Bloomington, IN. Deep red with prune highlights. Served with no head. Fine carbonation. Aroma was incredible. Lively rasberry up front with a bit of sweet cherry underneath. Presentation/aroma was so good, it was the first beer my wife has tried in 10 years. Actually liked it. Maybe this is the beginning of her conversion? Taste is like rasberry champagne. Lovely. Well balanced sweet fruit with a hint of grape skin bite. Let me say this is the first fruit beer I have had that hasn’t tasted like watery fruit juice. I imagine would be great for a celebration. Maybe next New Years I’ll have a bottle on ice. Very good.
Muggus69 (253), Sydney, Australia Oct 10, 2008 375ml bottle BB 21 Jan 2010. Was a bit suprised when I cracked open the crown seal to hear no pop...it didn’t occur to me that the beer ALSO had a cork, and I had to track down my ever allusive cork screw...
Presented with a lovely deep, murky purple body with a rocky, creamy, dense pink head that creates a landscape of lace on the glass on the way down.
Aroma is raspberry jam, straightup. Some vinous stewed fruits and natural yoghurt-like sharpness come through with a good swirl.
Carbonation is lively without being overdone, body is thick near-syrup, suprisingly good length for a beer of the strength. Restrained sharpness, balanced with sweetness.
I’m reminded bit of a raspberry yoghurt I have at work; lactic sharpness, creamy sweetness, tart raspberry. Finish is quite vinous with a bit of tannin and lingering stew fruit, slightly sharp but not dry.
Excellent raspberry flavour, balance is more on the sweet side, but its certainly not cloying, and has an overall lightness that makes it quite enjoyable and drinkable. hillfiiiiire (211), Atoka, Tennessee, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours dark red with a pink head. Aroma is like a kick of raspberries, and that’s about it, but it’s not deterring. The flavor is quite sweet though, and is all right for the first few sips, but after a while, the sweetness is more than I can handle. There are some very minor hints of sour, but not enough to make the beer work exceedingly well. Finishes dry. All right enough. gam (576), brisbane, Australia Sep 28, 2008 Pink frothy head on a cherry red pour, with good carbonation.Aroma raspberries, hops, light malt notes.Flavour sweet but not overdone, even flavour of vinuos, light wheat, malt is tops smooth but has a high note in flavour with the wheat.Hops are good on the taste buds, really good thirst quencher, slight acidic notes, the finish sweet and dry, pretty good stuff. hughie (2278), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Sep 27, 2008 Dark crimson colour with a jammy aroma. Taste has plenty of raspberry sweetness and a bit of sourness, though not enough. Non beer drinkers of my acquaintance enjoyed it immensely, comparing it to a British alcopop called Sweet and Sour Cherry Veba. This is probably not a comparison with which Brouwerij Lindemans will be particularly pleased. Beltramelli (464), Campinas, Brazil Sep 18, 2008 Vale pelo que se propõe. Coloração vermelha intensa, creme denso e consistente. No aroma e no sabor, a framboesa, porém sem notas lupuladas. Final doce. Refrescante.
