A golden hue sets off the wonderful almost champagne like taste.

0.375 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’ at 5.5% abv, bottled in September 2014 (almost two years old). Clear, golden amber with a massive, fluffy but relatively dense for the style, almost stable, off-white head. Sourish-fruity, slightly funky and quite dusty aroma of gooseberry, some barnyard, lots of oak, some dank basement and faint lemon. Moderately sour, a little funky but quite fruity taste of gooseberry, some old lemon, hints of rhubarb, lots of oak, some barnyard and leather, followed by a medium long, moderately tart but very dry and oaky finish. Medium body, spritzy and a bit astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very elegant, sophisticated and rather mellow Gueuze, not as puckeringly sour as others, therefore quite quaffable and still similarly refreshing. I would only prefer a little more funk and therefore more complexity. Other than that, it is close to perfection.

Bottle into a tulip. Pours a hazy amber, with a medium white head that fades quickly. Nose is sour citrus and yeast. Taste is classic gueuze, with a mildly sour beginning and a very dry finish. Pleasantly tart, but not overwhelming, and very well made.

Mętne, barwy pomarańczowej, z bardzo szybko degenerującą się pianą, białą pianą, która zostawia obwolutę wokół naczynia, lacing może być. W aromacie solidna, ułożona stajnia, nuty winne, owocowe, słodycz i odrobina chmielu. W smaku jest kwaśne, stajenne, lekko słodkie, jabłkowe, cytrynowe, wysoce nagazowane. Końcówka jest długa. Orzeźwiające. Super.

Sparkling, pale straw, practically no head - champagne beer. Funky, bit soapy, winous notes, fruity with orchard fruits, green apple, also apricot, yeast. Really sour, dry, crisp, potent carbonation, light, fruity fresh, long finish, green apples. Lots of character, challenging, pure, fresh and refreshing.

375ml bottle from the Royal Standard, Cambridge. Bottle says 5.5%. Dark gold. Fairly flat-looking. Apricot, apple butter, champagne and pineapple in the scent. Gentle tart taste. Not particularly sour but has a good bite to it. Short to medium finish. Very well carbonated. A treat of a beer.

Beautiful cloudy orange body, adorned with very tiny carbonation bubbles. Head is super active on the pour, but settles down to a near invisible film. Lemon peel aromas with an overall fruity sourness. Crisp effervescent mouthfeel. Very tart, sour citrus fruit flavours. Couldn’t toss down multiples of this, but it is an excellent sipper.

Large format - Cloudy orange color. Can’t tell what fruit is used, very mild flavor. Lots of bubbles and a nice mild tartness. Decent tartness that is not overwhelming or over posting which is nice.

Bottle. An even mix of rotten wood, dank basement, moldy straw and vinegar pervade throughout the aroma. Head is average size, frothy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy amber. Flavor starts heavily acidic and acetic, and finishes heavily acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light, dry, with a lively to fizzy carbonation and finishes tart 10 Well, here I tried again, another Gueuze, but these are still too brutal for me. Although, unlike the other funky/skanky ones I’ve had, this was drinkable.
