Fast fading off white head with a slightly hazy gold liquid. Smell is of pears, grapes, pineapple. Sour but not over the top with a husky peppery dry finish. Not bad, glad I tried this finally.

Pours a golden orange colour, with a small head full of tiny bubbles. YThere’s always a ring on the top and a tear lace. Aroma of grapes, citrics, wood, cider, cellar, notes of apple, sour. Medium body, crispy and creamy palate, fizzy carbonation. Taste is sour, there’s citrics, grapes, wood, cider, notes of apples. Great.

37cl bottle. Clear orange with a tall white head with poor retention. Smells funky, with notes of vinegar, barnyard, lemon zest, white grapes. The taste follows the same notes, with additional notes of apple cider, unripe apricots and champagne. Light bodied with a high carbonation and a sour and refreshing aftertaste.

750 ml bottle from Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop (bottled 22 OCT 2015) Pours a hazy amber with a bit of off-white head. Aromas of barrels, fruit, barnyard. Fair acidity with acetic properties is at the centre of a flavor otherwise consisting of notes of citrus combined with a bit bitterness (grapefruit?) and wooden barrels. Dry and acidic lasting aftertaste. Great geuze for it’s price.

0.375 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’ at 5.5% abv, bottled in September 2014 (almost two years old). Clear, golden amber with a massive, fluffy but relatively dense for the style, almost stable, off-white head. Sourish-fruity, slightly funky and quite dusty aroma of gooseberry, some barnyard, lots of oak, some dank basement and faint lemon. Moderately sour, a little funky but quite fruity taste of gooseberry, some old lemon, hints of rhubarb, lots of oak, some barnyard and leather, followed by a medium long, moderately tart but very dry and oaky finish. Medium body, spritzy and a bit astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very elegant, sophisticated and rather mellow Gueuze, not as puckeringly sour as others, therefore quite quaffable and still similarly refreshing. I would only prefer a little more funk and therefore more complexity. Other than that, it is close to perfection.

Bottle into a tulip. Pours a hazy amber, with a medium white head that fades quickly. Nose is sour citrus and yeast. Taste is classic gueuze, with a mildly sour beginning and a very dry finish. Pleasantly tart, but not overwhelming, and very well made.
