Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 19, 2011
Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a stemless wine glass. The beer pours a straw-colored yellow/golden hue, with an ample white head. The nose shows decided Brettanomyces character, along with a less aggressive level of acidity. As the sample opens up, a musty note also comes through, perhaps from the corked packaging. Together, the combination is utter and absolutely pleasing. The palate shows a lactic tart note up front, followed by some pleasing grassy/hay/farmhouse Brett character, and an absolutely bone-dry finish. The melange of pleasing flavors and aromas is outstanding. Carbonation is assertive, but not overly so, supporting the aromas and flavors, rather than detracting from them. The finish is nicely tart, leathery, and dry. Overall, an outstanding example of the style, even if it is widely available.

2011 variety. Not a big sour guy, so rating just reflects my taste. Really funky smell. Taste is obviously sour. Earthy and cardboardy. Old tasting. Nice crisp palate. Not my style.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2014 Nice gold-orange color with a good amount of fluffy foam. Fruitiness, a bit of funkiness, but not too much. Dry and sour, but not too distinct. Easily drinkable, better than expected! Not my favourite though.

Clear golden colour with a big and fluffy head! Aroma is quite strong. There is sourness and bitterness, green apples and sweet fruits too. Taste has lots of sweet fruits, citrus and surprisingly sweet taste but then turning into more sour and bitter with after taste. Medium body with medium carbonation. Great Gueuze from Lindemans.

"some green apple and a touch of green olive (which isn’t as nice) come out in the aroma and a little more in the flavor. While I like this one a bit more than their regular Geueze, it’s not one of my favorites. The flavor & body have to be spot on for me to like that much carbonation (although the everlasting thin head was pretty cool). OK."

750ml bottle served in a chalice. A: Pours an slightly cloudy orange color forming a medium sized big bubbled head with low retention and some lingering lacings left in the glass S: Strong fruity and Lambic perfume left in the air. Strong notes of peaches. Sweet malts. Notes of white grapes vinegar. Lambic-like yeasts. A bit metallic T: Follows the nose. Sweet grains mixed with a strong fruity upfront. Strong notes of peaches, white grapes, vinegar. Sour but not extremely. In overall, a quite dry and funky taste. A bit metallic in the mouth too M: Light body. Good carbonation. White grapes vinegar aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Classic Belgian fruity Lambic character. Classic [ BA Review @ 3/20/2014 ]

Flaske fra vinmonopolet. Drukket på dags hyttetur. Klar gylden farge. Tynn skumrand som forsvinner . Moderat karbonert. Smaker stikkelsbær, druestein, trefat, hvitvin. Moderat syrlig. Veldig god. Noe bitter ettersmak

750 ml bottle dated 04/05/2006. Lost in the back of the store for over 8 years.. It aged well, much like a champagne, but mildly tart and with excellent body. A bit of barnyard. Incredibly smooth and mellow behind the tartness. Beautiful lacing.
