Labeled as Souvenirs du Terroir Gueuze de Bruxelles. Fairly sweet and not very complex. Some mustiness towards the finish. Average.

Bottle: Pours a rusty bronze/deep orange with a wispy off white head. Relatively sweet aroma for the style, seems Faro-like. Just a hint of wild fermentation- damp wood, along with rotted apple sweetness. Very underdeveloped. Light body, mildly carbonated, and very sweet for the style. (This isn’t a Faro?) Sugary, sweet marmalade, with a nondescript sweet fruitiness overall and old wet wood. Finishes clean. It lacks depth with no real funk or sourness. Has just a bit f musty character. It seems like a Faro.

$4.999 bottle from PP bottle shop. Amber color. Quickly vanishing head. Some skunk in the aroma. Lots of apple and iced tea flavors. Mild tartness. Not very good.

Bottle thanks to David. Amber dark golden body with some floating sediment. Surprisingly large white head. Sour wood aroma; sweet. Notes of cork, must, cheese, apple juice, cider vinegar, and cherries. Sometimes reminiscent of a Flemish red in an odd way. Overall, incredibly sweet and not very impressive.

Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a deep cloudy golden color. Aroma is sourish, musty, yeasty. It has lively carbonation. Flavor is a sour vinegar like taste with some light creaminess and a hint of sweet. Can really taste the funk in this one.

Bottle from whole foods. Clear golden with no head. Nice musty sweet aroma, slightly tangy fruit taste with sugar notes to the finish.

375ml bottle, BB Dec 09. Pours a deep golden body, very clean. Head is decent sized, rocky leaving dense lace on my glass. Complex funk about the nose; very cheesy straightup, i’d go as far as to say a goats cheese, particularly sharp and lactic. Sour cream, cider vinegar, cherry pip, with an overall sweetness. Body is reasonably lean, lively carbonation with a slight creaminess leading into a vinegary sharpness that lingers for a bit. Body seems to be a mix of sharp cheese and sweet vinegar character. Quite apple ciderish, bit of woody sharpness, white grape skin, lemon rind, sweet almond breadiness. Finish is slightly tannic and dry, acid lingers for a bit but seems subdued to the underlying sweetness of the beer. Interesting enough. I really never know where I stand with this style, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

Bottle from Dranken Geers. Clear amber, lasting rocky head. Lambic, bit of farmyard some sour aroma. A sweetish lambic, but frankly not all that bad. Yes, too sweet ultimately, but it has all the other hallmarks of a gueuze. Aroma is good.
