Milky dark blond. Very sweet. A soft drink with some geuze added. Not bad, but it isn’t really a Geuze. Refreshing and light, yes. Better than Coca Cola.

Smelled this from across the bar as my bar tender popped it open...and I was a little disheartened. Not used to smelling my drink from four feet away. I’m giving these repeated attempts but still not "acquiring" the taste. Seems like sickly sweet apples and maybe some citrus fruit. All with that basic musty sourness under it all.

Honey-gold lager like appearance. Very strange aroma - half gueuze, half something else... Tastes a little sour, a little peach-fruity. Tastes and feels syrupy sweet in a sickly way. You can tell this used to be a good lambic but something must have gone horribly awry along the way. It’s clear this was not made for my tastes. A shame because I was really looking forward to trying this. C’est la vie.

MrChopin (2213) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 6, 2009
Completely transparent red-amber, small white head. Hopefully the nose is a shadow of what it once was: cork kills almost everything. Also some lemon and apple. Sweet, syrupy fruit flavor, maybe strawberry, a little cork. No brett elements to speak of, no acidity, no sourness. Thick, low carbonation, super sugary. This is more of a syrupy, sugary fruit beer than anything, but overall quite disappointing after those cork notes, even given that I wasn’t expecting much.

37.5 cl bottle. Pours a clear, rather dark, copper body under a minimal fizzy white head that faded rather quickly. The nose is very sugary sweet with minimal to no funkiness and touches of wet hay and cork. Saccharine chemical sweetness on the first sip yields just what I expected: the travesty that is adulterated Gueuze. A little bit of grapefruit and citrus rinds, but lacking in anything resembling tartness or sourness. The mouthfeel is unnecessarily thick and syrupy in body, it clings to the teeth with it’s sugary evilness. Just another in the line of pseudo Gueuze shams.

Served from bottle to tulip glass, this strange brew was a hazy amber color with a minimal white head. Very carbonated. Yeasty, funky, wet dog aroma, with maybe a little skunk. Flavor was earthy and a little sour. Maybe I had a bad bottle...maybe this isn’t representative of the style...maybe this is how it’s supposed to be. Either way, I won’t be drinking this one again.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2007 Almost clear golden copper body with a small white head. Nose is red apples and cloves. Taste is very sweet (too sweet) with red apples skin, plums and some cloves. Syrupy mouthfeel with a slight medicinal finale. Very mild acidity and sourness by gueuze standards. Atypical and below average gueuze. The fact that the previous beer I had was a Girardin Gueuze didn’t help, like being asked by your girlfriend what you think about her new swimming suit after watching an episode of Baywatch.

Bottle thanks to mora2000. Clear orange pour. Aroma is light cinnamon, shoes, plastic, Styrofoam, skunk, and light funk. Flavor is honey, sweet, caramel, dust and grape. Not a good gueuze.

Pours gold/light orange, big bubbles, persistent thin foam disc. Nose: mashed apples, apricot and wood, nice. Mouth: argh! Sour, unbalanced, woody aftertaste. Not good ! Or maybe with a specific meal ...

Sorry, but I do not like fruit in beer! This beer was too light, too fruity, and too carbonated. The only thing it had going for it was a slight bitter edge.
