4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012 bottle from S.P.R.L. Beer Shop in Brussels. Pours deep cherry with little head. Aroma is quite cherry in a sourish way. Med body. Flavor is tart cherry. There’s some yeast, but cherry is it. Rather acidic. Tart cherry skin may be a better description. Dry, nearly astringent. Tart cherry is the thing here.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (Dec 2015 bottling, 7% ABV). Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light red/purple, mostly diminishing. Body is dark purple. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately yeasty (horseblanket), with notes of black cherry, sour apple, sour cherry. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation, moderately to heavily astringent.
Pretty nice aroma, albeit very fruit-centric...the horsey yeast character is unexpected (and welcomed) for Lindemans. Pretty good flavor balance but not as sour as the better lambic makers. Mouthfeel is the weakest aspect...it’s quite astringent and the watery-syrupy texture doesn’t help. Overall ok, but not a repeat purchase.
