I love this. It’s a little too tart for me though, but that’s what it’s supposed to be.

2012 bottle from S.P.R.L. Beer Shop in Brussels. Pours deep cherry with little head. Aroma is quite cherry in a sourish way. Med body. Flavor is tart cherry. There’s some yeast, but cherry is it. Rather acidic. Tart cherry skin may be a better description. Dry, nearly astringent. Tart cherry is the thing here.

Bottle (Dec 2015 bottling, 7% ABV). Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light red/purple, mostly diminishing. Body is dark purple. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately yeasty (horseblanket), with notes of black cherry, sour apple, sour cherry. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation, moderately to heavily astringent. Pretty nice aroma, albeit very fruit-centric...the horsey yeast character is unexpected (and welcomed) for Lindemans. Pretty good flavor balance but not as sour as the better lambic makers. Mouthfeel is the weakest aspect...it’s quite astringent and the watery-syrupy texture doesn’t help. Overall ok, but not a repeat purchase.

Just didn’t see what the fuss was about in this one. Have wanted to try this for years and was sorely disappointed. Radiated pink body, small cotton candy head. Funky, tart, pungent...just nothing unique or terribly appealing. Glad I had a chance to give it a go.

Pretty much everything I want in a oude kriek but with a $11 price tag ! Damn, this is perfect chugging funk. Nice carbonation throughout, soft cherry fruit, earthy pits, funky barrel character and bright acidity but not throat burning like some krieks these days. Pretty happy with this and took it to my dome at work one day while trying to decide just how many cases I should purchase !
