After the greatness that is Lindemans Framboise, can their cherry beer (Kriek) manage to impress me? From the strong cherry aroma, I have a feeling that the answer is a strong yes. The appearance is almost the same as the Framboise; dark violet, perhaps with less head. The flavor is a very strong dark cherry, perhaps a little less complex, but still very good. The cherry flavor is present and yet not overpowering, so it’s not to be confused with an "alco-pop" in any way. It’s an authentic, good beer that I’ll be sure to drink again many times!

33 cl bottle, Brussels, Belgium. Hazy pink with a foamy head. Heavy cherry aroma with a cough syrup finish.

Pours a slightly cloudy deep rose color with a thick pink head. Aroma is of cherries, malts, slight cough syrup, and raspberries. Flavor is a frothy cherry malt taste with some fructose and slight cranberry. Leaves a sweet cherry finish.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2010 Aroma of loads of cherries. Dry, soury finish, which makes the beer appropriately balanced.

The beer pours a nice red color with a pink head. The aroma is extremely sweet cherry with no real sour or funk qualities. The flavor is very heavy on the cherry. Tastes a lot like cherry syrup. There is very little tartness although a tad bit of it is there. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This has nothing in common with other Belgian lambics but as far as fruit beers go, this is a good one.

Poured deep ruby with a small, pink, lacing head. Sour cherry dominates the aroma, but there are hints of apple and vanilla. Sweet start that melts into a comfortable sourness. Medium body with good carbonation. Dry, soury finish, which makes the beer appropriately balanced.

i don’t understand this high rating ?! , the cherry is from it’s naturall taste sour , why the hell is this beer so sweet then ? i don’t like it , i can respect decent fruitbeers when they actually taste like the fruit itself , but this one tastes more like a cherry lollypop than the actuall cherry ... very bad beer
