Sonicdescent (374), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2009 As far as Kriek, this is a completely different ballgame than the Cantillon, but the uninitiated will appreciate this with awe, as it tastes no more strong than a sparkling grape juice.
Appearance = pretty to look at. Dark red liquid with a light pink head and lacing.
Smell - cherries cherries cherries and a smidgen of a wine-smell
Taste - I prefer the Cantillon, but as said before it’s difficult to compare the two as the Lindeman’s overrides the sour taste with a whole load of sweet. It’s enjoyable.
Mouthfeel - yet another parallel to sparkling grape juice.
All things equal, I’d rather drink a Cantillon Kriek, but this is an easy to drink brew.
jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Aug 23, 2009 750ml bottle. Pours ruby red with a soft fluffy pink head.Smells of cherry soda and a nice rich red wine. Tastes like black cherry syrup mixed with sprite or 7-up. No beer grain flavors at all. Tastes like a kids drink. Very easy to drink. Tastes like a mix of brut and black cherries. Very sweet and a long sweet aftertaste. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Aug 21, 2009 750ml poured into Chimay glass. Pours red with head. Nice strong cherry aroma. Taste is off cherry occasionally medicinal. Alright, nothing special. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2009 750mL bottle. Tried this after falling in love with lambics - but I must say that the Framboise is much better. Borup (1345), Albertslund, Denmark Aug 18, 2009 Bottle. Dark red colour with a nice pink head. Aroma and flavour of hops, sugar, yeast and cherry. teorn88 (60), , Italy Aug 16, 2009 25cl bottle. Pours a dark-ruby colour with thin fizzy pink head. Foam is vanishing. Aroma is really sweet with cherries first of all and candies. Flavor is similar: lots of sweetness and cherries. High carbonation. Thin body. Good beer, in particular because it does not smell and taste artificial as many other fruit beers. danielst (132), Vienna, Austria Aug 11, 2009 A soft carbonation is already revealed by a quiet pop of the cork. Cute appearance: Deep red with a pink, fine-bubbled head. The aroma is of wooden barrels, cherries, cough syrup and fruit bonbons. Overall a fruity, medicinal flavour. Rather soft, tickling tartness that can’t balance the sticky mouthfeel left by the artificial sweetness. Really some complexity, but unsatisfying palate.
