joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 1, 2005 Bottled.
Cloudy red coloured with a medium sized pink head.
Aroma of apples, marzipan and cherries with woody notes.
Sweet flavour of overriped apples, cherries and marzipan. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Oct 31, 2005 Bottle purchased from Armanetti’s, Mundelein, IL. Hazy red hued having small white diminishing head with spare lacing. Black cherry aroma. Full bodied that starts and finishes with tart sweet black cherry flavor with no discernable bitterness. The flavor reminds me of RC black cherry cola that I drank as a kid and a bit like cherry-flavored cough syrup. Though not my cup of tea, but it would make a drinkable aperitif or dessert beer. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Oct 30, 2005 As I pop the cork from this beer a strong note of sticky, sweet cherry hits my nose. The beer pours with a thickish dirty pink colored head. The beer is a red color with a pinkish tinge to it. The aroma has nothing but a sweet cherry drop candy note. The cherry is rich smelling but is missing the cherry pit note that is in good Krieks.
The taste has an over the top sweetness to it that really just dominates this beer in both palate and flavor. There is a strong cherry note as well, and perhaps a bit of cherry skin complexity thrown in as well, but overall this does not even have the fruit character that the Lindemans Framboise has. Simplistic and straight forward, it is perhaps a bit easier to drink than the Framboise, but I do like cherries better than raspberries. There is also a bit of tartness in the finish here, but this wisp of a flavor is all that says that this might be something that is Lambic base.
shanereid (75), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Oct 24, 2005 Very deep red to the point of garnet coloured. The taste is unmistakably cherry but not obscenely so. Has a nice aroma and lasting taste that I enjoyed. JoshuaB (422), Detroit, Michigan, USA Oct 23, 2005 Pours a somewhat cloudy garnet, with very minimal tan head, weird. Aroma is lots of yeast and cherries, quite nice actually. Taste is yeast and cherries as well, with a nice malt backbone to it. The cherries are not overdone, and do not seem artificial. Very juicy. LordNeuf (125), Acton, Massachusetts, USA Oct 4, 2005 My first lambic ever. A very fruity aroma as expected with a deep rose color. I used my Chimay Goblet for the tasting. Slightly malty, no hoppy flavor, however instead of a subtle sweetness from the cherries, it was tart, quite tart. I’m going to explore the world of lambics a bit more and perhaps rerate this. Nekronos (2243), Xalapa, Mexico Oct 2, 2005 Updated: Feb 7, 2006NIce lambic, a little too juici, but it was perfect for a cold day here in GLasgow. Too sweet but a beer flavor deliscious was there. I had a problem getting a cork puller. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 30, 2005 The aroma is like a cherry cola with rum in it, very nice I might add. The appearance is reddish purple like a mixture of grape juice and cherry juice. It has a decent head as well. Tastes is sour and slightly wheat like and a lot like a fruit wine cooler, (malt beverage) which I like, but is not what I was expecting. One thing is for sure you can taste the cherry in this one which is not something you can say for all fruit beers. Overall its a nice beer to taste but lacking somewhat in the complexity I expect from the style.
