This is a special release from Lindemans. These are bottles which were intended to become Lindemans Gueuze Cuvée René, but they lacked to start a second fermentation. The contents is a 2 years old lambik (1994) blended with a 1 year old lambik (1995). It is a 1996 vintage and was released from the brewery in 2006.

Most of the bottles were exported to Sweden (Systembolaget) and sold as "Lindemans Oude Lambik". Some of them stayed in Belgium. This beer can therefore also be tasted at Heeren van Liedekercke. It is named "Lindemans Loeierik" over there.

Because of the blend this is not the same as "Lindemans Oude Lambik".

If you had a draught version, then you should definitely add a rating for "Lindemans Oude Lambik".

Poured from a bottle at DHVL. Aroma is very earthy and herbal with a light woody note. A light spiciness to it with moderate oak notes. Light acidity. A touch of citrus and a light cork note. Pours a fairly clear golden color with some copper hues and some orange with a medium small, thin white head. Flavor has a light sweetness with some light caramel and butterscotch notes. Some medium light oak notes. A nice herbal character with some earthiness and a bit of wood. Low bitterness. Medium acidity with light citrus and tropical fruit notes. Nice herbal, earthy notes that add a touch of spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a better beer than I was expecting. The beer is still lazy, but has great woody and earthy notes. A bit of a cork note, but not corked. Since I can’t try the Cantillon Loerik I thought I would drink this one.

Bottle at DHVL, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out wood, medium barnyard funk, and a little horse blanket. Flavour is very well-balanced, with medium funk, some barnyard, a little leather and wet wood. Extremely well-constructed, with a soft palate. One of the best Lindemans product. Wonderful.

Bottle (750 ml) @ De Heeren van Liedekercke. Clear bright golden/orange with a small bubbly ring of white foam. Aroma is very lemony forward (almost like Ice tea), some funk, light sweetness, cheesy notes and hay. Taste is also super lemony with light funk, nice fruitiness and some cheesy notes. Light body. Soft carbonation. Dry finish. Nice quenching Gueuze, but not super complex. Tasty and drinkable. Very different from Gueuze Cuvée René.
