Apparently this is a black steam beer. Not sure what to call it style-wise, and I guess schwarzbier is the closest thing to it. A: The pour is almost black, maybe just really dark brown, with a thin tan head. S: Smells like roasted malts, that’s for certain. There’s a touch of chocolate and perhaps some coffee too. I don’t really get much hop character. Maybe a bit of ash. T: There’s a slight acidity to it, likely from the heavy roasted character that this beer exhibits. A bit of coffee, and some bitter chocolate notes. It’s a touch watery, though. M: The body is light to medium with a medium level of carbonation. D: This wasn’t really bad, but it was sort of watery which didn’t really do much for me.
