3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dunkles Bernstein mit reichlich Schaum. Aromatisches Karamellmalzaroma mit leichter Röstigkeit. Recht vollmundiger Antrunk. Die röstige Note sorgt dafür, dass das Bier schön ausgewogen bleibt und nie zu süß wird. Der Hopfen im Abgang könnte ne Spur mehr dosiert sein. Gut bis sehr gut.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20

Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass a bit darker than exspected, nice head. Starts mild but not washy, fine malty, spicy, interesting hints of caramel. Mild sourish without being too much. Well balanced finish, quite drinkable. A good one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the Nurnberger Alm, 27/7/2013. Light brown with a decent, off-white head and plenty of carbonation. Sweetish beer, with some caramel and a touch of hedgerow fruits, bready malts and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bought online at Biershop-Bayern,the label says "Fein-Würzige Bierspezialität," which I hope will mean lots more bittering hops in this one. There seem to be a plethora of Lindenbräu in Germany, one in Berlin at Postdamer Platz, one in Waldbronn (just southeast of Karlsruhe), another in Bad Kötzting (northeast of Regensburg), many more, but I don’t have the energy to track all of them down in Google. This one, however, is in Gräfenberg, which seems to be between Forchheim and Nürnburg and east of Erlangen.
They also seem to malt their own malts, if the "Brauerei-Malzerie" on the label (under the tree) means what I think it means, though they mention nothing of this on their homepage.
5.2%. Color is light amber, which is the tell-tale sign of Melanoiden malts, and aroma is very malty, Pilsner and Münchener malts. First sips are malty again, with a good deal of bittering hops, mostly Münchener, toasted bready malt flavors, but again as it warms up, the bitter noble hops balance out the malts. Not as thick as the Fürst Wallerstein Brauhaus’ Winter Böckle unfortunately, but still very drinkable, a little breadier, too. On their site they say they use Herkbrücker and Spalter hops, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they made into this beer as well. Overall, I wouldn’t turn down this beer ever if offered but I’m not sure I would drive out of my way to drink it if there others nearby. It’s very high quality, nothing great about it, but a I appreciate it for the nice balance of toasted malts and bittering hops. Both ends of the flavor spectrum are quite pronounce but don’t overpower each other, which in itself it quite a feat in my opinion as a homebrewer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft (Nuernberger Alm).
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is clear dark amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, caramel), lightly hoppy (honeysuckle flowers, herbs), with notes of earth and orange peel, hint of men’s cologne.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, slightly metallic.
Interesting/enticing nose and good balance in the mouth, but sadly the prickly and very thin/watery mouthfeel ultimately had me giving up on it about halfway through the glass. Has potential.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Nurnberger Alm, Nov. 2012: Clear rust. Dwindling foam subsides into a jagged halo. Rustic and deeply rich bocklike aromas of autumn leaves, leathery pecan skin, Munich malt (browned biscuit), mineral, and intensely peppery hops. Soft and very natural-feeling carbonation. Softly malty with beautifully rounded fresh bread Munich development counterbalanced with a zippy hop bite. Loads of bouncy hazelnut and breadcrusty sharpness adorn the well-layered and continually evolving maltiness. Aided by the graceful carbonation, a seemingly boundless toastiness approaches the depth of rich java. Perfectly delicate twang of fruitiness combines with the mineralic snap to greatly bolster drinkability, just as the malt reengages with its springy pecan and leathery heft. Finishes earthily malty yet simultaneously sweetish with toasted bread and fruit swirled with tobacco, cookie, and breadcrust. A very well-crafted, Vienna-esque rendition with a distinctly fat and juicy malt character that brims with vitality..
