Flaske, delt med Willy på brygga: nesten helt svart med mørkerødt skjær. Kort skum. Mørkbrent kaffe, aske, (over)modne solbær og et hint av lakris helt mot slutten. Saftig anslag og tørr avslutning. Behagelig bitterhet i ettersmaken.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from...Rimi Bergen or Voss Vinmonopolet. Deep mahogany approaching pitch with a fat cappuccino mousse. Impressive fresh squished blackberry, blackcurrant and distant ashtray aroma. Deeply juicy flavour, again awash with red/black berry fruit. mildly soapy, citrus-hinting cafetiere dregs finish clinging with roast. Blueberries in bitter chocolate and the citrus of coffee beans. Slick, mildly fizzing condition. Really quite beautiful.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep copper body with a quite large, creamy, long-lived, tan head that leaves a good amount of foam on the glass. Rather strong aroma of slightly burnt malt, coffee, ash and fruits. Nothing special here, but the flavour is much more interesting. It starts out as expected with dark roasted notes, ash and coffee, but then lots of lovely hoppy notes pops up in the finish: I get tropical fruits, grapefruit and pine. It’s far away from a BIPA, but it’s definitely hoppier than many porters. And also more ashy and less chocolatey than many beers of this style. The taste is light sweet and the long-lasting (surprisingly hoppy) finish is moderate to light bitter. Mid-bodied, dry on the palate, moderate carbonation. Brilliant!
