3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SlovakSniper (1375) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 1, 2012
Métisse :
75 cl.

Deep golden ale with a firm fizz bourishing a lasting white film, from the faded white tower of irregular bubbles. Hop-forward orangey, flowery, earthy nose showcasing nicely the contrast between English and American hop profile. The yeast aroma is not too dominant in this one, having Biere de Garde like earthy, hay-like notions, but no outwordly phenols. Very hoppy for a Belgian Saison and this ends up stealing a good deal of the show while remaining agreeably earthy and dry despite feeling almost full-bodied thanks to its grainy, straightforward malt profile with more residual sugars than it seems. Original and pleasant example from this rather obscure brewery. Tightly mineral, almost salty in the orange blossom-like, perfumey and very dry finish.
