COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with American Amarillo.

750ml bottle from Bieresgourmet @ vPBF

Pours pitch black with a small foamy head. Aroma of roasty malts, hints of fruits, chocolate and coffee. Taste is roasty with notes of grassy and fruity hops, chocolate and coffee. Bitter and roasty finish with hints of fruitiness. Okay, quite roasty and surprisingly fruity for an imperial stout.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2012 Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker nr Gent, Belgium drank in a field at Cropredy Festival, Saturday 11th August 2012 Pours black with light beige head, really foamy head. Nutty but with a lovely softness, gloriously understated and the sort of beer you want to remain undiscovered. Love this, good roasty stout but with a pleasant hoppiness. Superb. 750ml from IPB.
Appearance : Deep black medium foamy creamy head. Some lacing.
Aroma : Caramel malt with coffee and chocolate. Light yeasty notes maybe. Light hops.
Taste : Yeasty and caramel malt. Roasted notes with chocolate and coffee. Slightly resinous finish with more coffee and caramel malt.
Overall : Interesting. Slightly thin for an RIS but at 8% that was to be expected and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Quite a lot of coffee with some caramel showing here and there. A bit too much caramel for the style IMHO. Overall not a bad beer but not such a good example of the style either. Nice coffee and roasty persistent finish.

Bottle at Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Pours black with a nice tan head and a huge treacle aroma. Ther is as creamy chocolate and dark molasses flavor with some balancing bitterness. Very true to the style and quite tasty.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a rather large dirty brown color head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of roasted oatmeal with light black chocolate touch and a somewhat fruity and bread-like yeast profile. Taste is also a mix between some black chocolate notes with a serving of roasted malt and a light dry finish with light hoppy notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting beer with a Belgian approach and an American hops profile – not sure I would drink this regularly but interesting nonetheless.

750ml. Jet black pour with a frothy tan head. Lots of roasty ashen bakers chocolate and cocoa nib with hints of brownie and molasses in the back. Rich thick palate with velvety carbonation and a sweet finish. Delicious!

Countbeer (4325) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUN 17, 2012
Bottle: Medium vast tan head disappears slow and leaves a thin tan lacing on top of a black beer. Smell fresh hops, citrus and light peach, light dusty, light plastic, hint of toasted malts, crispy like an ipa and roasted like a stout. Nice smell. Taste is a creamy mix of coffee, roasted malts, hops, hop flowers, hop soapy, nice bitter, light sour, light spicy, oatmeal, roasted barleys and a light hint of grassy herbs and a light sweetness. Aftertaste of bitter roasted barley malts, some other roasted ingredients and even some sweet sticky notes. Low carbo, soft light creamy mouthfeel, full body and a light creamy texture. Lovely beer.
