4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - DEC 1, 2012
Bottle from Malting Pot, Brussels Black color, with generous brownish compact head. It has a seducing aroma of malt and chocolate, with hints of vanilla, followed by coffee and hops. Good body structure, with a fantastic chocolate flavor, with some roasted malts, light coffee, cream, some wood, light smoke. Correct bitterness. It has thrills and balance. Excellent beer.

Very good dark-greige head over near-black beer. Nice, USA-hops reigning with lots of ureum, pine & resin. Nori, sushi-like saltyness, over restrained, but obvious USA hops, bitter chocolate. Balance is out of the charts. Quite slick, well-bodied but certainly not thick. Only thing missing is just a tad of extra alcohol, which would make it the equal of any American R.I.S. This beer is GENIUS! A superb new beer from a brand-new brewery hirer. If he goes on in this way, I’ll become a huge fan.

Bottle. Beautiful black pour, creamy espresso like foam. Aroma is very very hoppy, almost like a black ipa, some roastiness, black coffee. Taste is light and roasty, good hoppy aftertaste. Palate is relatively light for the style, dry finish. Very good.

Bottle:
Medium vast tan head disappears slow and leaves a thin tan lacing on top of a black beer.
Smell fresh hops, citrus and light peach, light dusty, light plastic, hint of toasted malts, crispy like an ipa and roasted like a stout. Nice smell.
Taste is a creamy mix of coffee, roasted malts, hops, hop flowers, hop soapy, nice bitter, light sour, light spicy, oatmeal, roasted barleys and a light hint of grassy herbs and a light sweetness.
Aftertaste of bitter roasted barley malts, some other roasted ingredients and even some sweet sticky notes.
Low carbo, soft light creamy mouthfeel, full body and a light creamy texture.
Lovely beer.
