Russian Imperial Stout brewed with American Amarillo hops.

Imperial stouts are so highly rated on this site. To me, this should be around 80 percentile, not around 50, even if there are so many that I don’t know... Very dry and intensely hopped (quite citrusy), with notes of espresso, bitter chocolate and pleasant black licorice. A lot of deepness and pretty complex, and very easy to drink. Very good.

Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2014. Roasted and toasted smell with caramel and dried fruit. Similar taste, sweet. It has the malt base similar to a barley wine but with roasted malts.

Dark bodied, beige head. Coffee, toasty, bitter, brown sugar start but harder bitter ending. Bit too cloying the for me, too much brown sugar, but luckily the ending is much better. It’s okay but looking at all those high ratings... (On tap at Moeder Lambic)

On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Black with a rich, light brown head. Good coffee and chocolate nose. A bit appleish tartness as well as coffee and roasted malts flavours. Nice.

Black of color with a small beige head. An aroma of liquorice, plums, chocolate and grapefruity hops. A flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, hops and light fruit.

Pours black ( trough Brown ) with a good , bit darker foam . Smell is burnt malts , bitter style . Taste is rather light-in mouthfeel , but full in taste . Very bitter , and LOADS of malts , resulting in an almost faded-peaty taste ( I had this in a homebrew once and I am pretty sure it is due to the overly use of malts , burnt malts mostly - yet i’m not sure ) Ending is bitter, with a sweet, chocolaty undertone .Not bad, but i prefer thicker , and more complex taste . Also could use a ted more sweetness in this one ...

Bottle from Hopduvel. Pitch black - brown head. Burned malts, ok hoppy, chocolate, yeasty notes, belgian yeast, phenolic notes, tarmac, high carbonation - sparkling feeling.

God men ingen kioskvältare.
