3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This one can from a 1/2 liter bottle. The color is a nice amber with a beige head. It has a nice aroma of hops with the taste of caramel and of cours malt. The bitterness of this beer is just right to live up to its name. Looking forward to drinking more of this one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 mL bottle from Montreal (Joanette).
App.: golden-orange, clear with a fluffy off-white head.
Aroma: Piney, resinous hops hit first, under that is caramel and toffee maltiness, and a sort of earthy nuttiness.
Palate: medium body, medium carbonation.
Flav.: floral-pine hops, some of the caramel maltiness, fairly substantial bitterness in the finish and a hint of that earthy quality.
A very competent brew. Thank you, Bishop.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a clear amber with an average size diminishing fluffy white head. Very nice UK hop aroma along with some fruit and caramel malt, it smells great. Tasty flavour of floral and citrus hops with some caramel malt and a long spicy bitter finish. Body’s a touch thin. A great ESB, we were all shocked that such a nice version of the style was from Quebec and not the UK -- very well done.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, my bottle. Nice dark orange, big fluffy head with orange tints. Lovely very bitter aroma - very fruity hops full of soft citrus, earthy English hops - wow lovely and fresh! Taste - wow, tastes like it is fresh from the cask! Bitter taste - tons of hops - citrus, more grapefruit than orange and a good malt base. Spicy finish. Stunningly fresh and just a joy to drink. Certainly one of the best ESB’s I’ve had, especially on this side of the Atlantic.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, tupalev’s bottle. Beautiful clear refractive amber with a large, lasting fluffy beige head, pillowy lacing left behind - almost a 5. Funky, rich UK hop aroma, dry, bitter, spicy, citrus rind - not much malt but who cares; pungent - excellent. My first thought on tasting was "weed!" - tastes very hempy- all of the above hop character, some fresh grain, slight grassiness in the finish, but this is an amazing ESB - tons of hops, very fresh and dry, almost sour alphas in the finish. Thick, dry mouthfeel, incredibly astringent - this tastes like a fresh cask bitter, I have a hard time believing this is bottled - excellent.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at Mondial 2006. Teh body was dark gold that was nearly orange. The head was off white. The aroma was leaves and apples with a fall type character. seems British. There was also toffee. The taste was dry with a hint of bitterness. There was also toffee and bread. A woody dryness in the finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 16, 2009 In short: A highly drinkable brew with bready malts (bread crust) and red grapefruits hopping. Good.
How: Bottle 500ml. Always consumed very fresh (this beer needs to be drank very fresh)
The look: Clear dark golden topped by a short-lived beige head
In long: A pleasant grapefruity nose with a fruity cake in the background. The toasted malt is grainy doesn’t show much caramel and sweetness, tastes like a bread crust. Nice body, feels rather nourishing for below 5% brew. Then comes a good amount of red grapefruit. Strong astringency, mild-medium bitterness. Not too sure about the ESB style here, really doesn’t taste like any ESB I had in ESB City (London England). Simple but solid and effective. This is one beer I like very cold. Unlike my women, I like my beer cold and bitter.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at the brewpub. An amber beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet nutty, but quite faint. The flavor is dry nutty and bisquety, and with a grassy bitter end. OK bitter.
