3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep dark stout with a thick lacing onctuous moka head. A good mix of bitter chocolate and floral hops in aroma, quite american in character. In mouth, dry roasted chocolate malt with a weaker body than expected, classy and pleasant. Bottle from Joanette, 3.29$, in a pint glass.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black with a little white head to look at. Thin-medium mouthfeel or roasted barley and sourness, almost mould yet well before expirely date. Not so dry as bland and lacking drinkability.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black body with a moderate khaki head. Mild sour roast aroma, dilute dark chocolate. Lightly acidic roast is quite strong, leaving a very dry impression of the whole flavour character. Average palate is a touch light for a stout. A nice stout, but not to my liking. 6/4/6/3/12

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A quietly receding gigantofoam tops the tawny-tinged blackness.
-Roasting coffee beans reveals a discreet black chocolate sweetness within.
-Energetic minty green hoppiness dances with the dry malt roastiness.
-The fluffy carbonation and lean maltiness offer plenty of drinkability.
What if you dig deeper?
-That wooden, leafy hop bitterness sure is pleasurable.
-Trickling vanilla sporadically sweetens the important roastiness.
-When drinkability and flavor are maximized, enjoyment cannot be far behind.
-Solace is gained at the taste of a well-made, lively pint of stout.
Bottle; best before March ’07.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size diminishing foamy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and mild dark chocolate. Very dry roasty flavour with a long finish with hints of chocolate and hops. Body’s a little light. A pretty good effort.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev - my bottle, via trade with Lubiere. Deep ruby-black (not quite opaque with a large foamy light brown lasting head. Aroma is dry, roasty, some sour cherry and light cola to go with mild coffee and slight sour dark chocolate malt. Flavour - dry! - very dry and oily roast malt, quite bitter, long finish, no fruit in sight. Very astringent mouthfeel, creamy and dry - really fine dry stout - you paying attention, Guinness??

Nose is great: coffee, chocolate, nuts. Too high carbonation and soooo acid. Metal. Disappointing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
1.9 L growler Black hue with no light shining through, long-lasting tan head, foamy and frothy. Chocolate and dry charcoal roast aroma, pretty straightforward and simple, but well focused. Palate is pretty dry altogether, very well built roasty finish, but not much happening before. Malt profile definitely lacks some character and is actually a little bland or at least not so flavourful. Under average example.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Black body with a short lived tan head (we’re off to a bad start). Generic roasted malt and coffee beans stout aroma. Taste is disappointingly light with a thin body and a very short finish. Very dry roasted malts & coffee beans with some chocolate flavours as it warms up. There’s even a little astringency that I don’t think belongs in a good stout. Overall, nothing bad, but a below average and harmless stout. For calling such a thin stout an Irish Stout, if I was the brewer I’d be afraid to see one of those tough Irishman drop by my brewery to “discuss” naming conventions.
