Quite baloance between bitterness and sweetness. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts and caramel. Not strong enough for a stout; but quite drinkable.

Bottled. A black beer with a small beigey coloured head. A slick, oily and salty stout. Lacking roast but good licquorice flavours. True to style. Sorghum. I like it.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Not as sweet as it;s Jamaican cousin ’Dragon Stout’. Heady mix of dark malt, smoke, licorice and minerals. Dry palate. Good.

1.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle - Chris O’s pre-NY tastings. Bad buy by me .Oh well.
Sweet malts; caramel and soy source. Really nothing much going in this and I’m incredibly disappointed as I thought this would be a nice beer. Dried out hops and metallic taste. Clear bottle - light shot probably. Weak Guinness immitation which tastes more like Newcastle Brown Ale.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours mostly opaque, ruby-brown with a small to medium, beige head. Strong roasted malt aroma, with some dark fruits and chocolate. Medium to strong sweetness with plenty of chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, some fruitiness, and a dry bitterness. Medium bodied average to high carbonation. Finishes sweet, quite chocolatey, with light roast and cocoa, plenty of dryness. Exceptional foreign stout. I was pleasantly surprised.

Lion Stout from Sri lanka roars with more heart and wears the crown as King of the Foreign stouts but i love this style regardless. Jamaica of couse make Dragon stout but this is cooler cause its not as syrupy or cloying fo 1. Notes of mollasses.Chocolate, raisins, creamy burnt rich malt, burnt toast ...oily huge richess. Cheers ,mohn.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pitch with a slim tan collar becoming a slick. Aroma faintly charred with some toffee sweetness over the top. Creamy and burnt with roasted barley bitterness, high cocoa, bite of hop, no alcohol, burnt toast scrapings, incinerated hazelnut for dessert. Some cushioning vanilla sweetness there. Icing sugar on charcoal. Wow. Big old fashioned FS, no question, with more than a nod towards the roastiness of Gwince FES. In fact, it’s fuller and roastier than the last bottle of Gwince I had. Real, and dangerous. No pussycat.
