Bottle... NTB Ernesto Festo ’06... Black ale with a small, fizzy, beige head. The aroma is chocolate, molasses, roasted nuts and vanilla with dashes of caramel and sassafras. The flavor is a swirl of caramel, molasses and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Mid-length, fairly crisp, mostly clean finish.

I can only echo Theakston’s comments. A bit syrupy for my taste, but certainly interesting after all those bland lagers. Not really the stuff to be slugging down in the heat, but any relief from the usual boring fare was very welcome. Bottled, Guadeloupe.

Dark black beer light brown head. Great malty complexity, raisin, dates, toast, molasses and rum overlie a sweet smooth dark chocolate flavour. Rich texture, sweet, but not cloying. Great roasty flavour with a bit of blackberry. Sweet roasty aroma, molasses and rum. Toasted wheat and chocolate. Light tar but its well balanced by sweet malt complexity. Nice brew.

Pours a rich opaque with a thin tan head. Sweet malty aroma has some dark fruit complexity and milk chocolate notes among roasted malt. Body has a nice sweet toasty caramel beginning with higher carbonation levels thinning the body some toward a sticky bittersweet and roasted finish. There is a little warmth in the finish, but overall this hides the alcohol fairly well. A nice and authentic foreign stout.
