2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can. Pours a strong, dark gold with a substantial, pure white head. Nose of overripe fruit, corn, alcohol, and intensely sweet malts. Flavor is a bit over the top: Huge malty sweetness, almost syrupy, medicinal, some caramel ntoes. Pretty boozy. The seeming lack of hop bitterness to offset the intense sweetness is a bit problematic. Medium to full bodied. Finish is more syrupy sweetness, which lingers for too long. If you like malt liquors, you would probably like this. Apparently I don’t like malt liquor enough, because it was tough for me to get through this beer.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Deep gold with a chill haze. Well, it smells like a champ. The aroma is full of sweet grains and some sour canned fruit stuff. Malt-accented palate with reasonable alcohol. Tastes a bit cidery, but also really sweet, and with some paint-like phenols. It’s going to lose points for a distinctly gluey finish. Not much good in this, time for me to move on.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Total WIne in Roseville. Darker gold color with a 3-finger white head. Aromas of grain and spicey hop. Medium body with creamy carbonation. It’s certainly different. It shows heat. It is grainy. It suggests a malt liquor in effect, but a top end version. Interesting.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle… Clear yellow lager with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is a bit lactic and vinous – smells a touch like white wine. Medium to full-bodied with lively carbonation. Leans on the sweet side of balance. Obligatory, mild bitterness. Sweet, minerally finish.
