We’ve been brewing Lion Lager in Sri Lanka since 1881. Lion Lager is made from the very best ingredients - it’s malty, refreshing, and natural tasting. This is a beer of character for people of character.

ABV ranges from 4.1% to 4.8%

BlackHaddock (4924) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2014
Can off the coast of Mexico on 21st March 2014 (on MS Balmoral, a Fred Olsen cruise liner). One of many strange cans available at a ’beer festival’ on board the ship. Typical lager/pilsner: golden, clear and clean looking. Bright body with a white fading crown on top. Usual almost odourless lager aroma, some grains and hops maybe but it still gets a low score for the smell. Taste wise it didn’t do much, more malts than hops, refreshing but bordering on tasteless, certainly bland and lacking in flavour in my eyes.

625ml bottle from beers of Europe. Clear golden colour, with a thin white head. Aroma is grainy, some sweet corn malts. Flavour is the same.

maekchu (2733) - Hirakata, JAPAN - APR 17, 2014
Bottle from Yamaya. Flat, stale nose of washed-out grain and wet paper. Dark gold straw, very pretty, decent lace. Thin grainy initial / stale malt / light dusting of powdered sugar. Thin body. Not so pleasant. Disappointing, considering the quality of the stout they make at the same place.

Im not sure if its corn or rice, but I know its shiite! I can’t believe Lion Stout comes from the same brewery

Can. Golden color with big but fast-disappearing head. In a minute there is no head at all. Malty aroma. Small amount of hops in taste. Typical south beer.

Bottle 330ml @ home
Pours clear golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, corn and floral. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

bartlebier (2559) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAR 7, 2014
33cl bb05/2014, Edeka Mohr. Pours a homogenised yellow. Smells sulfuric, broth with a sweetish corn fume tail. Taste of pale wort, some hop kick. Slightl abv/?rice edge. Drinkable, somewhat reminiscent of the new awful Jupiler, also using colorants and rice. Not much of a pale match for the Lion Stout.
