Bottle from an Indian grocer in Wembley. Expectations were low. Surprisingly deep golden colour, this was a relatively malty tropical lager, had some (if not enough) hop. Went quite well with my curry. It’s a dull lager but this sample avoided any nasties and was refreshing enough.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, honey, bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Mediocre aromas of big fruitiness and moderate pale malt and earthy hop notes; with poor balance and decent strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Good balance and solid robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester notes; with a decent malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and slightly bready mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a pretty mediocre pale lager style. Good balance and solid robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and fairly crisp to drink. Not bad, but not all that enjoyable either.

330ml served in a tumbler glass. Standard Lager beer. Nothing special, mainly if compared with their excellent quality Stout. Disappointing. [BA Review @ 7/3/2014]

Orange very small white foam ring. Strong barley aroma and fresh malty taste. Short lasting aftertaste. (Paris 201411)

"the malt in this brew is pleasantly sweet, which just barely saves it from being yet another substandard entry in this catergory. small floral hop presence as well. nothing great, but not bad either."

Bottle. Clear, golden, minimal head, white foam, lightly bitter, light body, thin feel, soft carbonation, & abrupt finish.

Bottled. Clear yellow. Thin disappearing white head. This is glorified water.

Bottle 33cl, a clear yellow beer with low head. Nose is on over ripped fruits. Aroma is on wet paper, very watery, dry toasted malt, boring.

Bottle from Tesco. Disappointing. Nice mouthfeel, but thin on flavour - the cereal honey straw hop notes fade away to uncertainty almost immediately. How can Lion produce a world beating Stout, yet a below average Lager?

Crisp lager nose, pale yellow body and big lick of a white head. Decent enough carbonation helps carry a generous and dry amount of barley and crispbread across, but this just drys out to a manky malt and unremarkable finish.
