3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Grima (1864) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - FEB 15, 2012
Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 oh6gdx (18576) - Vasa, FINLAND - APR 28, 2012
Bottled (from Bierzwerg.de, as Thomansen Export Dunkel, best before was about a year ago...). Deep murky brown colour with a mediumsized beige head that leaves nice lace. Aroma is roasted malts, mild coffee, some caramel and mild toffee. Also mildly ashy notes. Flavour is richly roasted old coffee with some caramel, mild toast and toffee as well. Quite a strange "Dunkel" compared to other German dunkels. But yet a rather pleasant brew.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ibrew2or3 (5777) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 2, 2011
33cl bottle pours a deep clear copper with gold edges and off white head. The aroma is full with Christmas fruit cake, black licorice and honey laced dark roasted coffee. The taste has the honey or molasses sweetened dark roasted coffee mingling with some spicy black licorice and dark roasted malts. To midway a fairly assertive spicy hop component joins in and helps take this to the finish.
