Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Mar 12, 2009 Sampler at the brewpub. Pours a see-through medium brown body with a thin, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and remains lightly laced. Aroma is mostly sweet caramels. Some cooked toffee as well as touch of earthy hop backing. Flavor is a little better and very soft. Lightly toasted toffee and caramel malts make up most of the flavor. A bit of nut comes in at the end as well as a touch of herbal hops. Palate is light to medium and smooth. Overall, not a bad amber ale, just pretty boring. beastiefan2k (1592), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Oct 13, 2008 Sampler @ brewpub. Clear brown color with a slightly sticky lacing. Aroma is thick caramel malts with just a bit of spiky hops coming through. Taste is of light hoppiness (earthy) and a light caramel flavor underneath that. Easy drinking beer, not weak at all though. Very clean and fun. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 30, 2008 This is pretty standard for am amber ale. Toasty caramel and a hint of dried fruits, some bitter herbal hoppiness. A hint of nuttiness here and there. The finish just ends after you swallow, no lingering flavors at all. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 12, 2008 One of the better in the lineup thus far. Very true amber color, white head. Faint plum aroma...surprising. Slight roast and nut in the flavor while also having a medium caramel note in there. Dies in the finish. For an amber, I’m happy. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Mar 10, 2007 True amber color. Aroma leans to caramelized malts. Light note of herbal hops. Light roastiness, toasty. Fair. jhumphries69 (718), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Nov 13, 2006 Updated: Mar 13, 2007Pours copper with an off-white head. The aroma has a touch of hops and lots of caramel. The flavor is similar - lots of caramel, some hops. The malts are a little weak in the flavor, and not particularly spicy (like typical american amber ales). The mouthfeel is very light. Not an offensive beer for sure, but not interesting. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jul 28, 2006 A really decent amber ale. A bit on the lighter side, but very true to style and a very nice session beer. Gentle fruit aromas meld very nicely with a semi sweet caramel maltiness. Malty and chewy on the palate, but finishes very clean with just a hint of lingering bitterness. Nice Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA May 12, 2006 Bright copper with a cap of cream colored bubbles that settle into some nice lace. A pleasing aroma combination of toasted caramel and grapfruit peel. Gentle hop bitterness and soft sweet malt. A little of the bitterness lingers into the finish. As with everything at Lb, clean and flawless and solidily within style, but overall, a little too much restraint all around to be very interesting. Something to sip on when your mind is elsewhere.
