Sampler at the brewpub. Pours a see-through medium brown body with a thin, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and remains lightly laced. Aroma is mostly sweet caramels. Some cooked toffee as well as touch of earthy hop backing. Flavor is a little better and very soft. Lightly toasted toffee and caramel malts make up most of the flavor. A bit of nut comes in at the end as well as a touch of herbal hops. Palate is light to medium and smooth. Overall, not a bad amber ale, just pretty boring.

Tap - small foamy head, dark amber color, sweet malty flavor with a fair shot of coffee - wasn’t expecting that, I am not a coffee fan

Had the aroma of nuts and caramel, cloudy redish color, the taste had hints of butterscotch the beer to me had no real aftertaste, a beer to drink if you can find it cheap.

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewpub in August 2009. Pours a moderate amber-brown color with a short off white head and just a touch of lacing. The nose brigs some light bready malt with a hint of caramel. Flavor is bread, caramel, and toffee. Light to medium body with good carbonation. Drinks pretty well overall but nothing too special. Growler poured a clear reddish amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, light cocoa and light toffee. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, toffe, earthiness and light cocoa with a crisp lingering malty finish.

On tap @ Liquid Bread. Carmelized, burnt orange appearance. Quite malty nose with a noted toastiness and nuttiness. Big malty amber beer again that’s fairly toasty and a bit nutty. Not too shabby.

From the taster; Nice clear caramel color. It’s got mild toasty and hoppy aromas. Well balanced with a touch of sweetness comes through over bread crust with some hoppy bitterness.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2010 Growler courtesy of a traveling beer club member. This brew is a clear brownish-amber color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and mild hops. Light body with a sweet malty flavor with notes of caramel and hops in the background. The finish is malty with a short sweet aftertaste. Slightly above average Amber overall.

Approximately 4 oz sample at the brewpub in Hays, Kansas. Pour is copper golden, clear with more of a head than the other samples. Nice lacing left behind as the glass goes down. Aroma is pleasant cooking sweet caramel, a well rounded nuttiness and a mild hoppiness. Taste is the nose (sweet caramel, nuttiness and hops), combining the flavors in a really fresh and vibrant way. The malt in the flavor is more of the nuttiness of the malt versus the caramel, which I prefer. The hops kick in at the back, and dry the beer our nicely. Palate is light to medium bodied, nice amount of carbonation with the mineral finish. Great amber.
