Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Mar 12, 2009 Sampler at the brewpub. Pours a clear, darker brown body with an off-white, creamy, slowly dissipating head that remains moderately laced. Aroma is light and soft. Mostly a creamy nutty smell. Some light roasted malts and a light chocolate hint. Flavor is very similar. Quite nutty throughout with a little more roasty caramel coming through in the end. Palate is lighter and smooth. Overall, an easy drinking brown ale. Nothing exceptional, but enjoyable. Harsebrau (164), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jan 26, 2009 Growler from Craig. Pours a pretty dark brown with a slight amber hue if the light is right. Off white to tan head. We’re thinking that the head would last a little longer if the Growler was fresher. We’ll see when his momma brings us another one. Aroma has some coffee and roasted malt hint. Flavor is rich yet smooth. Flavors of caramel, nuts, a sweetness at the start with a slight bitter hop at the end. extremeicon (108), Wichita, Kansas, USA Oct 13, 2008 Clear orangish brown color with a thin off-white head. Aroma fairly intense roasted coffee. Flavor initially powerful but fades quickly after the initial blast of nutty coffee flavors. Body much thinner than I’d like. Went great with my bleu cheese hamburger but probably not that great to drink on its own. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Oct 13, 2008 Sampler @ brewpub. Dark clear brown color with a sticky lacing. Aroma is very surprising with coffee and roast all over the place. Taste has a bit of bitterness coming through to round it all out with the coffee and roast a bit subdued in comparison to the aroma. Very different and awesome brown, like a brown stout really. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 12, 2008 Strongest aroma of anything Lb. thus far. Lots of nutty business going on here. Brown amber color that’s somehow see through. Burnt nuts and sweet malts blend together well to make the flavor. The finish lingers with nuts...they’re all over it! Pretty thin like the rest thus far though. One of the better options here. (Still sad there’s no porter on tap...) csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jun 29, 2008 On tap. Caramelly and nutty with a bit of chocolate in both the aroma and taste. A solid Brown Ale. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Mar 10, 2007 Toasty malts, a touch of burnt bread. Dark amber color. A bit thin of palate, with a cocoa note, leading into a semi-dry finish. Very low hopped. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Nov 13, 2006 Pours brown (not too dark) with hints of amber and with a tan head. The aroma has lots of caramel, some nuttiness, and some malts. The flavor has the same, though a bit mild. The hop bitterness and flavor is very low. Overall, not bad, but far from greatness.
