A strong bit of caramel and roasty coffee aromas. This reminds me of a toffee coffee, with just a bit of herbal hoppiness coming through along the way. An interesting brown ale, but not something I would want to try again. Seems kind of muddles and needs some finishing work.

Tap - fair size foamy head, very dark amber/brown color, smooth malty flavor with a fair amount of coffee flavor - I am just not a coffee fan

The aroma has lightly toasted malt, nuts, and maple syrup with some coffee. The appearance is red brown with a tiny head. The flavor is bittersweet with only a little bit of maple syrup. The palate is thin. The aftertaste is like apricots. Overall it’s not bad but I was expecting a lot better

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewpub in August 2009. Pours a moderate brown color with a single-finger off white head. Good retention and a bit of lacing. The nose is slightly-roasted malt, nuts, a bit of sweetness, and some caramel. The taste is along the same lines with a nice, mild sweetness and a bit of caramel and toffee. Nice feel on a medium body. A nice brew that drinks quite well. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 11-12-2010

Approximately 4 oz sample at the brewpub in Hays, Kansas. Pour is a hazed brown copper, not much of a head. Aroma is a nutty maltiness, along with a nice toasty element which blended cleanly. taste is the roasty nut up front, followed close behind by the malt. Palate is medium bodied, active carbonation with the mineral aftertaste of all of the Liquid Bread beers. Simple, but clean and nice.

Sampler at the brewpub. Pours a clear, darker brown body with an off-white, creamy, slowly dissipating head that remains moderately laced. Aroma is light and soft. Mostly a creamy nutty smell. Some light roasted malts and a light chocolate hint. Flavor is very similar. Quite nutty throughout with a little more roasty caramel coming through in the end. Palate is lighter and smooth. Overall, an easy drinking brown ale. Nothing exceptional, but enjoyable.

Growler from Craig. Pours a pretty dark brown with a slight amber hue if the light is right. Off white to tan head. We’re thinking that the head would last a little longer if the Growler was fresher. We’ll see when his momma brings us another one. Aroma has some coffee and roasted malt hint. Flavor is rich yet smooth. Flavors of caramel, nuts, a sweetness at the start with a slight bitter hop at the end.
