Tap at Cincy Beerfest. Light chocolate malt aroma. Near black with a small tan head. Sweet chocolate, earthy, and cola flavor. Medium body, lively carbonation.

Draft at brewpub. Poured a black color with a medium off-white creamy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. Solid drinkable brew.

Taster on tap. I’m told that the brewery plans to sell this experimental batch under the name "The Lateral" sometime in the future. Good news, as I was pretty impressed. Dark brown color, good foamy brown head. Nice oatmeal and chocolate malt nose. Good roastiness. Not too sweet. Decent amount of bitter to balance it out. Good lace. Medium body, good chewier texture. Dry finish. Smooth carbonation. Great oatmeal stout.

Draft to taster at Listermann’s. Looks good; pitch black with fluffy beige head that slowly dissipates into lacing. Smells malty. Tastes like it smells, but better, with a solid mouthfeel. A solid example of the style.
