2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Medium nut brown color with little to no head, some lacing. Some smokiness, but it is fleet and covered up by sweetness. As someone who has worked with smoked meats for over a year something seems off, more of a liquid smoke character than actual smoke . The alcohol is also prevalent in the aroma. Taste is sweet, roasted malts with a sticky residue. Its OK, a novice introduction to smoked beers as it lacks the punch of a rauch-style beer..

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
GABF 2015. Cloudy, opaque brown color. Thin white head. I’m not crazy about this beer as much as I love smoke. A little smoke in the aroma, some bacon surprisingly, fatty bacon, but not enough smoke. it seems made well enough, but I would have liked more of a traditional rauchbier.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by Kyle, thanks! Pours a clear deep amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a sweet smoke note with a bit of bacon and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has a good amount of grain with a strong earthy smoke note and a hint of sweetness.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle, poured into a shaker pint at ~40 degrees F.
Appearance: Pours a clear hickory brown, and forms a pale tan head that quickly dies to a cap and ring.
Smell: Char, smoke, grease, and pork, much like the way my smoker smells half of each summer. There’s a hint of caramel sweetness underneath the smoke.
Taste: Pork grease and hickory smoke combine to make the first few sips not unlike eating some dry barbecue. As the beer progresses, a caramel sweetness unfolds beneath the layer of smoke, alongside hints of raisin and chestnut. The finish leaves a lingering aftertaste of smoked pork flesh and charred hickory.
Mouthfeel: Medium of body and somewhat sticky, this is a bock.
Overall: Quite enjoyable, and will repeat. It is not quite as good as the Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche, but it’s also not bad either!

Smokey aroma. Deep amber in color. Highly smoky and moderately sweet and but mostly smokey...in the end, mostly one-dimensional.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled during RBSG. From notes. Bacon, smoke, and smoky bacon. Awesome. One of the better bacon beers I’ve had.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from jsquire, thanks Jeff! Pours root beer brown with a tan head leaving nice coats of lace. Aroma has honey ham, meat smoke, some caramel and some brown sugar. Taste is of honey cloved ham, smokey meat, caramel and light lemon. Medium bodied, and smokey ... Finishes tangy sweet with smoke, and with some length. The nose is so terrific, with that ham/smoked meat blend, but the flavor does not maintain the promise. Solid, certainly interesting, and for style - quite good. 14.1

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2014 Come on - bacon flavored beer. This is nature?s most perfect food - and proof that God loves us. This is NOT a novelty beer- it is very good technically and tastefully. Makes me proud to be an American!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at The Ohio Taproom. Dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that dissipates gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked meat, malt and coffee. Medium-bodied with flavors of smoked bacon, charred malt and mild coffee. The finish is smoky with a burnt malt aftertaste. A little too far into barbecued meat territory for me, so pretty average in my opinion.
