3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackHaddock (2350) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2013
Picked up this 500ml bottle while in Berlin: opened at home on 16 Mar 2013. Poured into a Veltin’s stemmed tulip glass twice.
Really deep ruby red body when held up to a light source: otherwise a dirty black/brown. The head tried hanging around: it starts off big and bold but the tanned bubbles turn into a wisp and collar half way down the glass each time.
Roasted malts all the way in the nose: almost burnt malts in fact.
The taste is also all malt: roasted/toasted with a smoked Ham joint in the kettle with the brew. Molasses from those malts give it a sweet feel, as if the Ham has a toffee and caramel coating. As the beer warmed a little chocolate and nut flavours appeared along side the toffee and caramel coated smoked Ham: most enjoyable, if a bit sweet and lacking in true body depth and strenght.
One of the better Scwarzbier I’ve had so far.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 Grzesiek79 (2348) - Radom, POLAND - MAR 4, 2013
Dość dobre piwo, chociaż mogło być lepsze. Smakowało dobrze i się obficie pieniło. Ciemne z refleksami czerwonymi wspaniale sie prezentowało w pokalu. Smak słodowy, nut palonych prawie brak zupełnie. Ale ogólnie jest to pijalne piwo.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JanLaursen (2147) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 7, 2013
Bottle, 50 cl, abv is 4,8. Orange reddish brown with frothy, quickly diminishing beige head. Aroma is intriguing - malty, bready like rugbrød with a roasted impression. Medium body, average carbonation. Taste follows the nose but is a bit of a let down, too sweet and sugary to make a lasting impression. Nice roasted medium bitter finish, though.

2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20 Beerbarella (247) - - DEC 25, 2012
500 ml bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a medium brownish head. Smells like dish soap. Tastes fruity with hints of malt, but overall a bit weak for a Schwarzbier. Good aromatic mildly bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black beer with light brown head. Yeasty aroma, some malts, nothing too exciting. Flavor is also quite dull, medium sweet with a malty character. Again nothing special going on here, just an average beer.
