500ml Bottle - Dark brown in colour with some red tinges and small head. Roasted aroma with some malt and some coffee notes. Intially quite fizzy on the tongue although this quickly subsides. The taste is roasted with coffee, malt and a hint of cola. Quite pleasant.

500ml bottle. Dark brown, clear with red tints, with a foamy beige head. Lightly malted malt aroma, quite sweet, but a little metallic. Taste is also a little metallic but once that’s subsided, a fairly rich burnt malt taste predominates. With some more bitterness, this might be a pretty tasty drink. Alas it goes downhill after it’s warmed up a bit, something odd invades the taste that spoils it.

Bottled. Dark brown, firm head.Sugary nose. Sweet and light bodied. Light boided with clean, hard mouthfeel. Light roasty malt mingles with saccharine and artificial cherries. Finishing almost without bitterness. This beer illustrates why dark beers are regarded a women thing in Czechia.

Seems to be impossible to avoid this beer in Finland these days, so I suppose I might as well rate it. Clear, dark brown colour, with farily large, foamy, beige head. Typical, lightly roasted czech dunkel aroma with a pleasing extra twist of chocolate and caramel. Somehow dry and fruity at the same time. Flavor reflects aroma, leaving the fruitiness waiting until the sweet aftertaste. Medium bodied and carbonated. Decent czech dunkel.

Bottle. Aroma of strong malt, caramel toffee and butter. Thick foam, dark colour. The taste is surprisingly strong and quite sweet. Wonderful bitterness and a looong finish. Extremely good stuff.

My probably most favourite dark beer, tried it for the first time about 10 years ago, and was pleasantly surprised by its caramel/malt/wort flavour. Very flowery, sweet aroma, and sort of ivory coloured head. Best with some of the Czech dumplings, sourkraut and roast pork, or, as Rune suggests, with a goulash. Very interesting combined halved with a lighter beer. Overall very drinkable beer, although I would not have more than two on an evening :o).
