Bottle from the legendary Kris Wines. The pour’s a hazy deep ruby color with a medium off-white head. The aroma’s brown bread, some caramel, strawberry, candy corn. Sweet, malty nose. The taste is toast. A bit of shaggy tobacco. Artificial hard candy. Some caramel. A bit of red fruit. Mild cardboard on the finish. Soft carbonation, light body. Overall, not great. Somewhat amateurish.

Bottle, from Budgens N5 area, at JF’s Calcutta Cup mini tasting - 02/02/13. Lightly hazed mid brown with reddish hues with a good sized beige head that retains well. Nose carries dark malts, light caramel tones, slightly aspartamic sugar notes. Taste comprises yeast esters, toffee, sugars, hint of berry fruits. Medium bodied, slightly over carbonated, some sweetness in a dryish finish. Average/Ok stuff.

Bottle at home in London. Pours perfectly clear copper-ruby with a fine, white foam head. Light dry berries in the nose, some toasty bread, faint leaves and pine. Light to medium sweet flavor, toasty-bready malts, mellow leafy bitterness, some semi-ripe berries, faint melon. Light bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Decent balance to finish, brown bread, hints of toasty sugars, light leafy bitterness, subtle earth. Simple but overall pretty tasty.
