When the temperature drops, rain beats down and wind swirls around dark alleys, we seek out the comfort of the local tavern. Swathed in warm dim light, your hands wrapped around a rich, chocolaty English Porter, you can let your mind drift and heart beat slow. Mr Obadiah Rye Porter is a respectful nod to aged ales and our brewing forebears who were inspired to put pen (or quill) to paper. From pint bottle. Pours a deep ebony-brown with a lighter highlights at the very edge. Small cream-colored head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, nuts and tobacco. Taste starts out with mild chocolate notes. Roasted malt-coffee bitterness in the mid-palate. Spice at the back end, leading to a lingering spicy finish. Like it.

Aromas of coffee and dark chocolate, taste is exactly the same, the aftertaste lasts and last, a very nice porter, one I would highly recommend

Dark and lacy in the glass, served warm (ish). Roast malt, spice, crusty Rye bread and earthy aromas and flavours of a of a baking country kitchen. Needs, needs, needs to be well above tap or fridge temperature to allow this beer to open up and enjoy, cold kills!. Match with a deli platter of cheese, sausage and whatever, good one.

Imperial Pint Yes and thank you please Dark brown with some slight hints of ruby. One finger light mocha colored head. good strips of lacing. Good retention to the head. Nose is dairy milk, caramel, roasted malts, slight amounts of coffee, and a lot of nutty tones to this. Thought Hazelnuts and almonds. Taste is some rolled oats, soft, earthy coffee, caramel, and nuts. Really nice and smooth taste. Medium light bodied, medium carbonation. Long lasting nutty feel. Needs more of the rye presence but overall a really solid porter. Best single batch to date.

Pours a very dark brown with ruby highlights and two fingers of creamy beige head. Nose is loads of rich coffee, caramel, spice, dark chocolate and almonds. Taste is lots of roasted coffee, raisins, roasted nuts and slight spice. Mouthfeel is velvety and smooth, and thereís a hit of bitterness on the finish but itís disguised well by the roasted flavours. Pretty delicious.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2013 Bottle. Pretty much black with a beige head that laces well and never disappears. Earthy aroma with bread crusts, spiced chocolate, coffee, hazelnuts. Silky mouthfeel, medium-bodied. Not very sweet at all, with overdone breadcrusts, coffee, nuts, chocolate, grass. A fair bit of bitterness that lingers with spicy rye notes at the very dry end. Started around 11C and really grew on me as it warmed. Complex, original, very well balanced. Cue Etta James. [3.9]

Overt rye spiciness fading a bit. Canít say I mind. Very fine drop indeed.

Bottle. Pours opaque deep brown black with ok tan head and good lace, diminishing to a small but ok coverage. Light aromas of milky mocha chocolate oats, bread, biscuit light rye, grain cracker, light floral grassy hops - biscuit and crackers to the front. Medium full body, chewy caramel front, making way for a light back end, finishing lightly roasty, hints of rye pepper among a generous chocolate and nutty pale malt character.

Not a great aroma, but it sure does make up for it in the taste. Lots of Roasty flavours with coffee being the predominant flavour with some chocolate and caramel in there too. An excellent spicey rye finish was also noted.
