3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
1 pint bottle. Pours a hazy burnished copper colour, with a medium off-white head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Pine resin, kiwifruit and floral hops notes sit on a base of nutty, toasty malt to create the aroma. Lime and kiwifruit hops up front give way to pine resin as they move through. Nutty malt and toffee flavours give it weight and body. Strong pine resin hops and toffee malt make up the finish, and leave a pine aftertaste. The real strength of an India red ale, I feel, is in the combination of potent hops and a weighty malt body. This beer achieves that combination very nicely. Another good single batch effort from Little Creatures.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Clear burnt orange with an off white head. Aroma of caramel, peach, gooseberries, a little pine and spices. Taste is sweet with plenty of stone and tropical fruit; caramel bloompfs around making it red and sweet. Citrus and light spices struggle to cut though. Firm bitterness emerges and the finish is really quite dry. Liked the melange of hops but didn’t need all the caramel.

RBJG2. Golden red colour. Aroma lots of cat pee hops, resinous. Taste is subtle, not so bitter. (Hmmm, notes were pretty shit on this one).

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a deep copper with a fluffy off white head. Magnificent lacing around the glass! Nose has grassy earthy hops and caramel malts. The toffee and caramel malts come through up front. The malt profile shines in this beer it’s not all about the hops. Touch of honey to compliment the toffee/caramel flavours. Nice long bitterness rounding off a well balanced beer. Creatures delivers after the last few average single batches

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Mane Liquor. Pours a deep, clear sunset red with a neat 2cm khaki head. Spicy citrus smells, with a nutty/biscuit malt backbone. As mentioned previously, contains the ’sierra nevada whole hop cone’ characteristic, which is what I suppose they were going for (and appeals to my taste). Medium body with a disappointing lack of bitterness, their pale ale tastes more bitter. Good to see little creatures improve from their last few single batches though!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear reddish amber with a thin (but lasting) off-white head and fairly vigorous sparkle. Scents of caramel, malt and pine resin on the nose. The taste starts off like an Irish red with caramel to the fore, before some pine hop bitterness kicks in, though not as aggressive as the ’red IPA’ title would suggest. A little spice and lemon zest at the end. Medium body with a moderately long finish. Out of the ordinary, but pretty good all the same.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Ruby red pour with a small beige head. Nose shows floral and earthy hops. Very sweet malts. Loads of toffee up front. Taste shows bitter hops but for me this beer is all about the malt profile. Loads of honey and toffee/caramel tones which combine to make a very balanced beer with a lengthy bitter finish. Sessionable stuff. A good drop
