According to well versed folklore, a red sky at night was a reassuring vision for those that spent their days toiling at the mercy of Mother Nature’s whims. Today, a stunning sunset serves more as the perfect accompaniment to a day’s end ale than a guide to fair weather ahead. With that in mind, this hop mad Red IPA is as captivating as the night sky, with our most lavish hopping regime to date. The resulting heady spice citrus aromas and lasting dry bitterness is balanced with a malt bill delivering depth of flavour and a distinct copper-orange hue that would provide any weary shepherd with plenty of delight.

Very nice beer from the Little Creatures Brewery. From Bottle at Brewhouse Brisbane. Nice smooth flavours and aroma, one of the best Red IPA’s I’ve ever had. Too bad it’s just a single batch.

I really enjoy this beer. Medium amber in colour with good head retention. Aroma of toffee and caramel with some citrus and spicy hop aroma, good depth of aroma too. Medium bodied palate with plenty of malt flavour backed up with a good balancing bitterness. There is a good hit of hop flavour too making for an easy drinking beer. A very enjoyable beer.

Imperial Pint Deep orange amber color. One finger off white head that slowly fades off. Little bit of streaky lacing with this. Large caramel backbone nose followed by orange peel, some pine, grapefruit and other tropical fruits. Slightly spicy in the first few snifs but it is brief. whacked upside the head with a hep of malt. Bread and caramel off the bat. Slightly spicy hop, and orange marmalades that do grow in the palate but otherwise reserved. Oily and slick. Decent amount of booze for what this is. Some lively carbonation in the back of the mouth but the malt really dominates. Not a bad amber and a decent effort for what this is ment to be. Some flaws though

Pleasant hop aroma, clear red body with half decent head, body was a balance of malt and hops that was balanced, without too much punch, very pleasant.

Bottle at Tim’s RPJG#2. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Dry and some sweetness. Hoppy aromas. Slightly fatty mouthfeel. Medium carbonation.

1 pint bottle. Pours a hazy burnished copper colour, with a medium off-white head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Pine resin, kiwifruit and floral hops notes sit on a base of nutty, toasty malt to create the aroma. Lime and kiwifruit hops up front give way to pine resin as they move through. Nutty malt and toffee flavours give it weight and body. Strong pine resin hops and toffee malt make up the finish, and leave a pine aftertaste. The real strength of an India red ale, I feel, is in the combination of potent hops and a weighty malt body. This beer achieves that combination very nicely. Another good single batch effort from Little Creatures.

Bottle. Clear burnt orange with an off white head. Aroma of caramel, peach, gooseberries, a little pine and spices. Taste is sweet with plenty of stone and tropical fruit; caramel bloompfs around making it red and sweet. Citrus and light spices struggle to cut though. Firm bitterness emerges and the finish is really quite dry. Liked the melange of hops but didn’t need all the caramel.

RBJG2. Golden red colour. Aroma lots of cat pee hops, resinous. Taste is subtle, not so bitter. (Hmmm, notes were pretty shit on this one).
