Sweet oak aroma some orange zest, and smoked malts. Pours a dark orange/amber brown, thin soapy head. Oak, pine, tiny bit of hickory and toasted malts in the finish. Palate is smooth but a bit bland in the finish. Meh.

On tap at Flying Saucer. Has an amber/orange color with a medium white head. Has a good balance of hop and malt on the nose. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is a very smooth tangerine and a bitter finish. Enjoyed this one.

Rarely do American brewers devise ways to develop lager styles. Alog w/their pilz, this has got to be the best lager I have tasted from the U.S. Draught. Orange & plum aroma. Deep amber pour. Slight malty sweetness, with complex flavor patterns (apricot, almond, pie crust) & great hops balance. Really worth drinking more!

On draught at Posse East in Austin. This is my regular go-to beer at this location. Pours transparent amber. Nice malty balance with a very smooth finish. Can drink several, so makes a nice session beer in my opinion. Seems stronger than most lagers but without published alcohol content, cannot confirm this. Goes nice with a Posse burger basket!!

Pint glass at Opal Devine’s- very little head, aroma of malt, perfect amber color in appearance. Hits the mouth with a medium body, a note of sweetness to start, hops on the middle and finish, which is mildly bitter and frank. A beer that made me crave a smoke while I drank it, which is very hard to do! Bottle and sell it damn it!

Very complex flavors going on here. Quite malty with some sweetness coming through from that, but also tastes a bit like port. There is definitely a fruit wine taste as well. Very enjoyable and original.

Pretty strong hops, not to re-state but it is a good outside beer in Austin during the summer. Probably not substantial enough for indoor sipping.

On draft at Shady Grove. Nice example of a style that I’m admittedly not that fond of. Amber color, hoppier than I expected, which is a good thing (for me). Nice for outdoors on a warm evening.

I had this on draft at Shozols [sic] Garden in Austin, and I thought this was a very nice but not over the top malty lager. It was hot in TX, and this beer was quite refreshing while not insubstantial.
It came in a big 20 oz glass, without a lot of head on it. It was a sparkling amber color. Aroma was a good amount of malt without any cerealness, and with a bit of hop. Flavor was more of the same; a nice amount of malt without any loss of refreshingness. Very good.
