Very good beer I thought. Nice flavor but could have used a little more kick.

Cloudy brown honey color with a weak head. Awesome piney hops aroma with toasted malt notes. Finishes clean with lingering pleasing bitterness. In short, a solid brew.

On draught- Pours a deep amber with about an inch of white head on top. Has a fruity aroma and the taste is malty with a perfect hop taste to join it. Smooth mouth feel, great beer!

Very complex flavors going on here. Quite malty with some sweetness coming through from that, but also tastes a bit like port. There is definitely a fruit wine taste as well. Very enjoyable and original. On tap.

Rarely do American brewers devise ways to develop lager styles. Alog w/their pilz, this has got to be the best lager I have tasted from the U.S. Draught. Orange & plum aroma. Deep amber pour. Slight malty sweetness, with complex flavor patterns (apricot, almond, pie crust) & great hops balance. Really worth drinking more!

Most recently had this one on tap at Gingerman, but have had this one from kegs in the back yard as well. Pours a dark amber with 1/4 inch of off white head. I love the deep medium dark color of this beer. The aroma is of woody malt and slightly citrus hops. The flavors are very clean and crisp, with layers of oak, citrus, smoke and dark fruits all easily discernable. The hops are well balanced in this brew but I’ve had a few in the past with a sour/astringent hop after taste.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2014 I’m really surprised this has such a low rating. I thought it was a fantastic amber. I guess I’ll have to try it again to verify my ranking. IMO, another fine brew by Live Oak.

Draft at Billy’s in Austin. Light Amber in color, with light to medium carbonation and small to medium white head. Smell is of caramel sweetness, intense juicy dried apricots, slight maltiness. Taste is similar with a mild bitterness as well. Medium finish and a good beer overall. My favorite Live Oak beer.

I had this on draft at Shozols [sic] Garden in Austin, and I thought this was a very nice but not over the top malty lager. It was hot in TX, and this beer was quite refreshing while not insubstantial. It came in a big 20 oz glass, without a lot of head on it. It was a sparkling amber color. Aroma was a good amount of malt without any cerealness, and with a bit of hop. Flavor was more of the same; a nice amount of malt without any loss of refreshingness. Very good.

On tap at Flying Saucer. Has an amber/orange color with a medium white head. Has a good balance of hop and malt on the nose. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is a very smooth tangerine and a bitter finish. Enjoyed this one.
