bottle from keg @Joe’s NYC Gathering shared by rciesla/Ryan–pours a big foamy white head with cloudy straw color. Aroma is clove/pepper, banana, wheat. Taste is clove/pepper, banana, wheat, some tart fruit. Much milder/thinner than the aroma although no detractors.

A: The pour is somewhat light for a hefeweizen, tending toward a pale straw color with plenty of cloudiness and a white head. S: A bit of the traditional banana and clove esters, but not all that intense. The wheat comes through nicely, as does a hint of citrus. T: The yeasty esters are not as dominant as I normally like in my hefeweizens. The banana and clove are certainly there, but not they don’t steal the show. Orange peel and wheat round things out, with maybe just a bit of lemon. M: Somewhat light in body with a moderate level of carbonation. D: I can see why this beer is so popular, especially for people down in Texas. Quite easy to drink, light, and refreshing.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Cloudy, milky yellow orange appearance with a fluffy white head. Slightly spicy, very yeasty, bready, lemon citrusy, mild banana aroma. Bready, very yeasty, lemon-banana bread flavor that’s very smooth and very drinkable. Not as much banana and clove from the yeast and more a breadiness. Really an excellent brew but still not as good as its german counterparts.

Growler... Cloudy, straw-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Beefy, fruity aroma with banana and bubble gum esters blended with clove and light smoke phenols. Medium to full-bodied and very creamy with tingly carbonation. Nice, fruity flavor offers banana, clove and gentle smoke. Fairly sweet, but not annoyingly so. Fruity, spicy finish. It’s a style of beer I really don’t like, but this one is pretty darn good. Big-time thanks to GodOfThunder for sharing!

Growler from JW77. Weird beer. Yeasty and lemony with an odd perfume note. Both in the aroma and flavor. I am wondering if this was oxidized? Not sure, but it wasn’t too good.

Tap at the Ginger Man, Houston, 21/05/13. Hazed pale yellow with a thin white head that retains well. Nose is bananas, cloves, light spice, grass, toffee. Taste comprises banoffee pie, spice, herbal notes, cloves. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dryish finish. Solid enough hefe.
